everything this game tries to do transport fever does 5X better and with a less confusing and more streamline menu system. the long and short of it is, i went in very optimistic and got it on sale for $15 but even in the tutorial level i found myself bored and uninterested in playing it. you cannot customize trains, track laying is boring, and the menu system has so many submenus its just clunky to use. if you want a good transport game go play transport fever and transport fever 2

i have played every tropico since 3, 5 was really bad with the ships having limited space, in 6 that is somewhat fixed, but what it fixes from tropico 5 it breaks itself again on all its own. why is the soil quality going down for plantations every year? thats not balance that means you cannot realistically grow crops on the island since its completely limited, using the secondary function only makes the crops grow at a 70% rate at best, if youre trying to specialize in sugar, youre out of luck trying to produce enough to make it to the rum factories to make it worth while. the game boils down to there is no sure fire way to make a profit anymore, ive tried to look at guides, ANYTHING to help me progress but nothing, it all comes down to this summer patch that seems to have ruined farming and any exploits or good methods to make money.



OK after a couple hours to acclimate to the new methods and everything, it is amazing and i love this game. i support the new devs of tropico 100% and any and all DLC large or small will be bought by me

the recent update completely broke the game, making it so extra and complex, i already have to do everything myself by buying supplies. why add staff and and entire gameplay mechanic behind that? why have things break down when im producing things on a mass scale, why can i not add machines to existing lines or when i create a new line? it allows 0/0 machines to be added.

I like its art style and its gameplay BUT the troop controls and resource management are wonky.

i understand that units need to be resupplied for immersion to not allow you to lock down an area forever since reloads need to be a thing but give me a break with this! i dont want to have to continueally resupply when my guys wont run back to base. troops ignore direct orders to STAY PUT AND NOT MOVE TO DEFEND THE SPOT or orders to retreat but will move a bit and continue to fire when they need to get out of there! additionally theyll stand with their backs to enemies or ignore attack orders for NO reason! secondly the resource management is terrible, zombie mode is the biggest offender, starting you off with 3 dollars and 3 units and LOTs of zombie, no $$ per kill its per wave, even then its random amounts per map like 7 dollars or 70! when zombies are CONSTANYLY closing in and you cant afford more troops at the beginning or any defence, AND they dont let you have vehicles......whyyyy? "fairness" to the zombies? a "challenge" F*** you its a wave defence.

i like it and would recommend it but it needs work!

its ok, build lots of houses at first to get your resident count up to 100, ignore their starving cries while you build food, foresters and mining stuff and then build everything else, put one giant tower in the center of the place with 6-10 ballistas andddd you win against everything. you can pretty much reach the end game like i did in 2.5 hours, i kept playing to see if the vikings or dragons got tougher or worse and they dont and didnt and couldnt even make landfall for an invasion. im playing on hard btw. hopefully more content in the future

this game is in 0.69 at time of writing

its unrefined, its poorly made and terribly designed. its just bad all around, save your money is the short version

past .5 you should have a solid game that functions and has its features or roadmap planned. this was an idea that fell apart. the game looks decent enough, but its sluggish to play, you feel like a million pounds moving, menus are terrible with tiny text drop downs with 2-3 options underneath, not even good options at that.

this game boasts customization but all the characters look the same, 2 maps, 2 or 3 scenarios? when you have a choice of 3 (yeah basically 3 or 5) options per bit (some even overlap eachother making certain combos null and void!) it has literally nothing to offer in this department. gun customization? PAH! you mean a laser, scope, and surpressor....thats it. again 3 options only. no extended mags, barrels, grips, grenade launchers, stocks, triggers, recievers. NOTHING! thats not customization at all! escape from tarkov, ghost recon FS or Wildlands, hot dogs horseshoes and handgrenades anyone? seriously, this game is made in 2017 with 2001 "customization"

the gameplay even falls flat too! the enemy AI can take up to 5 rounds at a time IN THE FACE and keep running, they at times defy gravity and run up 90 degree cliffs to point blank you. long range shooting is your advantage over them but your bullets disappear after about 30 ft! i scoped in on a sniper rifle and was SEEING them spawn in out of thin air! this coupled with 3-5 bullets to kill for them and 1 yes 1 bullet to kill you! the ai runs at you in groups of 3 but sometimes they can spawn behind you from where you inserted on the map....i died 4 seconds after spawing once. your friendly AI dont shoot, they watch you die and carry different guns aaaaaaannnd thats it.

the graphics are decent enough for like a game made in 06 07 so thats fine with me but the maps have the weirdest 80 degree inclines on hills or sheer drops in grasslands. makes absolute 0 zero sense. the vehicles look like legos or minecraft mods with blocky undone textures. the guns look decent enough but that doesnt excuse their horrible handling and feel.

dont let the videos fool you. yeah its a decent f2p game but NO weapon customization? what. a game that looked so promising to me, like escape from tarkov without the hardcore crap? yeah big disappointment, more like a b rate cod with sluggish controls

Update: 8 months later and barely any changes and MY REVIEW STAY THE SAME! Not a single thing has changed my review!

i like this concept of a custom faction in an rts but it has SO many drawbacks. it just makes it not worth the buy! im a HUGE RTS fan and love the game type and the unit customization BUT it has issues that are unforgivable.

my main issue is the tech tree, i want to love it so badly but with missions rewarding 75 points and even the starting tech being 30+ points for just a rocket its a massive grind to get anything and they still get outclassed by the base cannon! purely cosmetic changes to your units can make them cost 70+ dollars more to buy in a match. moving from wheels to treads costs the unit 60 more dollars with no real benefit in the game to actually IMPROVE the unit! make the treads allow heavier weapons on smaller vehicles not just "oh it can traverse mud faster" yeah that helps uhh never since you mostly spam the toughest unit in your faction, with the cheapest cost.

other glaring issues is resource gathering you use harvesters on these rocks all around the map but long games has both teams running completely out of resources with no army to fight each other! additionally every rock has a pittance of wealth making rapid early game harvester spam a MUST to get a cash flow going. each rock contains about 2000$ but the harvester only gets 150 per trip again making resources a chore to do! subnote: power management is utter trash, build 5 of them and youre set for the whole match.

campaign enemies starting with a full base and you getting nothing, they attack with their entire army destroying your base with no contest and if you have it set to hard, the AI gets the full tech tree. i had collected the same amount of resources the AI had but because he was able to spend 0 dollars on buildings he had 4 times the unit count. i had 15 he had 67 built by the end of the game. its just not fun to play against somebody that flat out cheats to win.
