A beautifully artistic game with narration on top. The combat is simplistic yet challenging, and feels like it's almost perfectly balanced. I enjoyed every minute of this game due to its amazing world, interesting characters, and fun little story. The game isn't very long (not a con for me), but it sure is crafted with lots of heart.

Game is a lot of fun. A lot of free expansions to enjoy with friends!

For those who are big fans of Civ 5 like me, and are wondering if this game is as good....

To preface: I bought the Gold Edition on sale (not a bad deal) and this review is from my first impressions

= Let's not forget that Civ 5 is complete and this one still has some work to do. I'd only recommend the Gold Edition if it's on sale (like Summer Sale discount), because it's the best deal.

+ The game expands on the features brought in Civ 5 BNW and G&K
+ Cities are much more interactive to develop and the district system is very enjoyable to experience
+ Workshop mods can be used in multiplayer without file adjustments like in Civ 5

- AI is not improved, but not that much worse; I've noticed city spam is a big issue however
- Tech Tree order feels off to me, and seems to have some early dead ends

* Overall it's not as bad as some say, but it is far from perfect. It doesn't live up to Civ 5's reputation, but it has a lot of potential


Edit: DO NOT BUY THE BASE GAME ALONE (you can't get the bundles for yourself and buying the civ packs separate is a scam)

- I've written this review in 2019, and this is the best Civilization game to date.

Pick this game's bundled edition on sale, and you get one of the best deals on steam. Brave New World is basically Civ 5.5 and overhauls this already amazing game. Highly recommend this game to friend groups looking for some cooperative/competitive gameplay while still being able to relax and have a good time

- By far my favorite fantasy strategy game.
- A must play for any fans of Large-Scale RTS games

- Overall (Vanilla) 8/10

A good meme, but only for the first few minutes. After that, you want to drown in a vat of acid because all the sounds are the same, and the gameplay is so boring and tedious, it'll drive you insane. I regret ever considering to get this game "as a meme"
