I've been wanting to play this game ever since I'd first heard about it a few days before its release. Having watched a few gameplay videos I knew not to expect too many different levels/worlds so I wasn't disappointed. However, I do hope the developers stay true to their promise to think about new content once the major bugs are fixed.
I love the relaxing gameplay and beautiful worlds. The different stages are easy to understand. I love the different biomes and the fact that they've included not only well known stuff like rainforest, coral reefs and deciduous forests but also slightly more obscure vegetation types like moss and lichen, kelp forests and fynbos.
I can't wait to see what new biomes might be added. Maybe something with deserts, temperate rainforest with tree ferns or calcareous low-nutrient meadows. In the meantime I will definitely try out the alternative biomes.

I played through this game once, I'm missing a few stories but I believe I saw most of the game.

An overall I enjoyed the experience. Obviously you're wrong here if you're looking for action-packed fights or dramatic adventures. But if you want something calm and some well-written stories this game might be worth a look.
Like the other reviewers I enjoyed the 'main' stories and was interested to see how they and the characters progressed. I also think it's a cool mechanic to tell a story and later find out that it got told around more and changed into something (completely) different. The music was great as well and fit perfectly into the setting. More than once I was also reminded of the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou".
However, the game does have its flaws. Mainly this concerns the big map combined with a rather slow walking speed. There are options to hitchhike but not every passing car will pick you up (quite realistic I dare say) and you don't really know where they're going and how far they will take you. You can also take a train but this will only allow you to travel between the major cities. Obviously this all makes sense, travelling across a big bloody country like the US on foot must take a while. But especially in the late game this made it feel unnecessary long and drawn-out. Also, while the music really is great, I really would have liked to have a few more different songs. This would probably have improved the walking-across-the-country part as well.
And then there are the stories. Don't get me wrong, I like them. There's a wide range of different stories, happy and sad ones, stories about love, tragic ones, comedy, horror and fantasy. As part of progressing you have to tell the main characters you meet different kinds of stories (sad, funny, love, etc) so they tell you more about themselves. I don't know if it was just me but I didn't play this game in one session and when I got back to it after a few weeks I had forgotten which stories I had collected were put into which of these categories. And as far as I could tell there's nothing to help you to define what story is sad, what's funny and so on. Of course, in some cases this is obvious, but we've all got different opinions. So I guess there are stories that I find tragic or sad and others might find hilariously funny. So I would have liked a little more help with that (maybe I just haven't found that option, you never know...).

So, overall I enjoyed this journey and its stories, the graphics and music fit perfectly into the setting but if you want to play the game you have to be prepared for a lot of walking around, reading recurring story snippets and (at times) trying to find out how a story is categorized via trial-and-error.

A relaxing and educational game about logic and the basic mechanics of programming. I really like the fact that they refer to lots of articles and videos on the subject.

If you liked the first game and want to play some more I can definitely recommend this game. If you haven't I can still recommend it but I should warn you that some of the platforming parts are quite hard. Having managed several 100% playthroughs I know they're not impossible but definitely frustrating.

So what's different from Guacamelee STCE? First the graphics have been improved but it's still very much the same overall style. Improving your special moves is easier now because you can upgrade whenever you like. If you own none of the DLCs then the outfits won't give you any special abilities - unlike in the first game they're purely aesthetic.

My only slightly bigger problem with this game is with the mutliplayer mode. I tried playing it with my friend but since you have to move through the platform sections quite fast, change dimensions, climb, boost and glide you reach the end of the screen pretty fast which results in the slower player to get stuck in the "spawn bubble". That means that if you're not on a similar skill level one of you will basically only play during the fights. I really wish they had instead opted for zooming out so that both players can still play even if they're further apart.

All in all it's still a great metroidvania with an unusual setting, humour, memes and easter eggs galore and optional but really hard challenges.

This is a really great game. I found out about it by watching the Game Two show about the gamescom 2017 and I'm happy I got to play it at last.
The game does exactly what the description says: it's puzzle platformer in which you can change the shape of the platforms to solve the puzzles. The puzzles get harder as you progress but they never feel unsolvable. I played the whole thing on a keyboard and had no problems.
The only minor issue for me is that sometimes - despite the patch - I got stuck inside the walls for a little while. Luckily I didn't have to reload though, jumping and dashing around frantically got me unstuck eventually.

All in all I'd definitely recommend you play it!

I started this game thinking it would be a "normal" point&click adventure like the Monkey Island or Edna&Harvey games. But I was wrong. Instead of focusing on collecting and trying to combine items to advance you solve puzzles. I'd say the difficulty ranges from rather easy to somewhat hard with most puzzles being somewhere in the middle. So even if you didn't manage to do one puzzle on the first go and may have become slightly frustrated, the chances are high that you'll be able to solve the next one without difficulties. Also there are hints for each puzzle, so even if you can't solve one on your own you won't get stuck in the plot. There are many different kinds of puzzles, anything from mathematicl, logical and topological problems. Personally I liked how they mixed different styles and I didn't get bored.
I also liked the plot and that unique art style a lot! My only "big" issue (if you can call it big) with this game is that I really would have liked it to be longer. But apart from that it's a good game for cold, rainy afternoon :)

Since this is a rather short game there's not much to say. I really like i and its really interesting way of solving puzzles. I also like the cute hand-drawn style and the sound effects fit well. There's simply nothing to complain about so if you need a little break from action or work - or just generally a break - I can heartily recommend this little jewel.

First of all I really enjoyed playing this game. It is a nice little point & click adventure with riddles and puzzles and a mostly calm and peaceful atmosphere.

I particularly liked the mythological setting and all the different fantastic creatures you encounter along the way. I hadn't even heard about a two thirds of them at all. So I was happy to get to know a bit about them in the lore section.
The nice music and dark, muted colours very much added to the calming atmosphere.

However, there are two minor things I think could be improved:
1) The puzzles. In general I do like them but I wish there had been some kind of explanation available as to how they work. Maybe I'm just lacking in imagination but I did have some trouble trying to understand what exactly was the goal to advance in the story.
2) The language. This is quite a minor issue but I really would have liked to hear the whole story in Swedish. Of course, many people don't understand swedish but I think it would have made sense here, with the story being inspired by swedish folklore and the game having been created by a swedish company. An easier alternativ would be to at least pronounce the creatures' names correctly. Of course, I'm not an expert but I don't think that e.g. "gårdstomte" would be pronounced as "guardstomt"

But leaving these two points aside this is a great little game and I would definitely recommend it if you like point & click adventures in general.

What I really like about this game is its characters, their wit and most of all the story.
It's a nice point &click adventure with (mostly) doable puzzles and mini-games. With this game Daedalic have managed to take a very serious topic and create a funny and intriguing experience. I'm definitley going to play it again.

A few years back I had played a demo of this game and I was delighted to finally play the full version. Even if it was quite short (in relation to the games I usually play) I thoroughly enjoyed Botanicula.
The riddles were really interesting and not too hard. Most of them were really creative as well. This game has a rather unique look and the creatures you encounter are quite funny. It was also very interesting to see that a game and story can work with so few words.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this little jewel of a game to anyone who's interested in playing something a little different.
