This game stands alone in it's balancing, character, gameplay, artstyle, and nearly everything else. It is unmistakable and incomparable to anything released at the time and since.

The balancing of this game is unique among first person shooters. Most games feel like the classes/playstyles really step on top of each other, in no small part due to the fact that almost every other shooter has some sort of assault rifle character which is the center that everything else revolves around. TF2 has no real firm ground in this way and it feels like every class and subclass fills a specific niche in which they are effective. A match of TF2 looks nothing like most FPS games for this reason and others.

It's free, try it and have some fun. Bots are not as much of a problem as they once were.

I am debating if this is better than Half Life 2. That's how good it is. A must-buy for anyone who has steam.
