My friends and I got this game looking for cheap and to be honest, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ coop horror games. This fit the bill excellently. The right amount of unity asset flipping and barely held together coding jank led to an excellent experience with the boys.

The mission objectives are bland and uninspired and the gameplay mechanics are shallow and unrewarding. However, the second and third levels give you and the group firearms and these are very fun, albeit ♥♥♥♥ for gameplay because in our opinion the bullets are way too common; it basically becomes a reflex shooter, sending the haunted ♥♥♥♥♥ back to hell whenever she shows her ugly mug.

The first mission is ♥♥♥♥; do not let this dissuade you. While the other levels are also terrible, they are objectively more fun because of the guns. The character creator is another highlight: you can be kids and this is a severe self-imposed disadvantage with absolutely no upside. I played as a kid the whole game.

In conclusion: I recommend this game but you must be looking to buy it for all the right reasons. Do not look for a quality game, get this with friends and have a short and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ blast.

One of the best games I've ever played.

The atmosphere is incredible; both the visuals and audio are fantastic. From a technical standpoint, the visuals are very simplistic, yet the art and design choices make for beautifully immersive environments where the player can easily get a sense of what it would be like to be there. From the idyllic green to the ominous putridity of the swamps and the frost-covered mountaintops, the environmental captivation is absolute. The music accompanies the biome-dependent settings perfectly, never stealing the foreground but always providing a pleasant backdrop to the gameplay. Almost as a victim of the game's own replayability however, it does eventually find itself to be a tad repetitive but if that is my main issue with it after nearly 400hrs, then I'd say it's done a pretty good job.

The gameplay loop itself is nothing novel: gather biome-specific resources to continuously grow your strength and unlock new craftables: items, building parts, food, etc. This specific gameplay loop is seen fairly often, but I find Valheim's implementation of it to be among the best. For example, a lot of games require constant resource intake to maintain gameplay elements, whether it's gathering iron to repair tools, or items being fully destroyed after too much usage. With Valheim, generally once you put in the effort to build something or reach a milestone, it's yours forever. This avoids tedious grinding and allows the player to use all tools at their disposal without worry of essentially signing on for future labour.

As far as progression goes, the game only progresses in difficulty as fast as the players allows it to. The game only increases in difficulty when a boss is slain, allowing the players to vibe out at the earlier stages if they want to, or blitz ahead as Odin's strongest warrior if they feel that viking call within themselves and neither player will be corralled by the game to adjust their desired pacing.

To conclude, this is a game I have recommended to literally everyone I know who plays videogames and will continue to do so. The gameplay is engaging, the atmosphere is incredible, the progression is perfect, Valheim has got it all. There are few games if any that I would recommend over this one.

Skål!

Been playing this game for a decade now pretty on and off, and while I used to recommend it to all of my friends, I can't really do the same anymore. The constant anti-player changes made by management to increase the grind have just gotten far too bad to the point where a new player struggles to make pretty much any progress past BR 4.0, and old players struggle even maintain their position at top tier.

These changes are meant to encourage(strongarm) the player into purchasing premium to speed up the grind. The issue I have with this is that what is premium-level progression nowadays is what F2P progression was a couple years back. Premium used to be able to grind high-tier vehicles quickly and F2P would have to do it more slowly. Now premium players progress through high-tier very slowly and F2P players are essentially paywalled out of mid-high tier.

I'll give an example: a standard non-premium ground RB match will net you around 1 000RP and take about 20min. A standard mid-level vehicle can be around 200 000RP. Not factoring additional SL costs or anything, a F2P players would have to spend around 67hr of continuous match-time to unlock one new tank.

One new tank. 67 hours. In a game with hundreds of tanks.

Now let's talk Silver Lions: what originally was a little secondary currency that was never a huge bother has become yet another ball and chain that the player either was to grind for, or pay up even more money to address. Forum moderators have said that non-premium vehicles are not meant to be SL profitable after low-tier, so either be prepared to spend a lot of time replaying the beginning tanks on a fairly frequent basis or pay out the 60$ needed to pick up a premium vehicle.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and as much as it pains me to say this about a game with so much potential, I would not spend any money on it in it's current state. I will not be renewing my premium account until something changes, and hope that either the executives calling the shots decide to drop the anti-player sentiment or a decent competitor product comes along. I would recommend downloading it and experiencing what a fun game it can be, but do not be expecting to get to anywhere beyond the earliest tanks without significant impact to your free time and mental health.

First time I opened it I heard 'It's a long way to Tipperary' in the background. 10/10.

Im utterly terrible at it, but for those who can expand quickly will dominate. I enjoy the concept, the devs are cool, and the updates are frequent. Only downside is that it's a tad intensive on the comp.

The game is pretty awesome, but every once in a while I will hear the call of the natives and my Fps will drop from 60 to about 3. I do not know how to fix this and it kind of sucks. Fps aside, the game is astounding. Beautiful graphics, intuitive gameplay, and terrifying enemies. 10/10.
