as someone who comes from the very early days of the franchise, there are ups and downs to megamix. outside of the game itself, the egregious price you have to pay for both a full song list [all the popular songs are locked into the overpriced dlc] and the intrusive implementation of denuvo are already reasons enough to buy this game either on sale or through other means. on the topic of the game however, its quite alright. as someone whose sunk hundreds of hours into the first 5 entries into the franchise, the additions from the arcade versions of miku's games such as the multis [hitting multiple notes at once] and the increased difficulty are something that takes serious time to get used to. that being said, some of the implemetation is outright garbage on some songs, while some are much more well thought out and fun.

what made previous project diva games stand out was how easy it was to get good and understand the well thought out design to the maps and being able to tangibly improve until you could play extreme. however, in megamix, and most of the arcade games for that matter, the quality of the mapping has gone awry. some maps like One Sided Love Samba and Po Pi Po have recieved amazing maps that incorporate the new mechanics in a unique and fun way without being too exceedingly difficult for players to get used to - however other songs such as Piano x Forte x Scandal and Unhappy Refrain have gone from fun songs to absolute nightmares, with overused difficult sequences that often dont follow a consistent pattern, and an over-reliance on multis and fast sections that are hard to follow. its these weird, low-effort "difficulty increasers" that make it frustrating to try and improve your skills instead of fun.

also missing from this game is the edit mode, which allowed users to upload their own audio files and create their own charts for the game. the lack of this feature really puts a damper on the ability to explore more creations outside of the game's vanilla song list.

i think there needs to be a sort of return to form for project diva. i believe the old gimmicks like arrow notes should return and multis should be used much less, but still be incorporated. like i said, multis are awesome if used correctly and in a sensible way that makes them easy to track but still difficult to master. its a delicate balance that is only sometimes struck in this game, and the inconsistency can really put a damper on it.

to reiterate my point on the topic of the pricing and dlc; i once again, encourage you to seek other avenues to this game or get it on a sale. sega is charging an absolutely inflated value for this game with how subpar some of the maps can be. aside from that, if you are a fan of the project diva franchise, i think this is a plenty worthwhile game with the additional modding you can do to uncap the framerate limit [which looks gorgeous] and add user-created songs.

I'm not usually big on JRPG's. As someone who tends to get bored easily, I find myself dropping out of such games about a quarter or half-way through. But Persona remains unique enough in all departments to keep me hooked.

If you are looking for a very entry-level JRPG with unique mechanics and enough content to keep you entertained for at least a whole week, look no further. I do recommend this game. But unfortunately, I can't recommend you buy the PC PORT of this game, because of Denuvo Anti-Tamper. You can look up any number of videos on why people aren't a huge fan of it.

On top of the invasive anti-piracy measures, I do nitpick a little with this game. I discovered not long ago that Chie's voice actor was not the same as it was in the original version on the PS2, and upon going back and seeing, I personally thought Chie's VA was more akin to her character, despite the performance not being all that good. (The voice was deeper, and a bit more rough.) The only other nitpick I have is that the navigators can be very annoying after the first few hours of hearing them in battle. I don't feel I need to be screamed at that someone in my party is poisoned or low on HP when I'm halfway through the game.

Long made short; I recommend this game, but not here. Get yourself a PS2 copy.

Project Cars 2's career mode is what I believe should be the textbook example of how to make an immersive motorsport simulation.

I played this game in full immersion - I strapped on my Quest 2, hooked up my G29 and shifter, set the races to full length and played through the career mode. The driving mechanics are solid, despite some video essays that say otherwise. Sure, it might not be a complete proper simulation of racing - but for what it is, the diversity of motorsport disciplines and stunning roster of tracks make this game extremely enjoyable. And I ran this game in VR on a GTX 980, which is a testament to it's optimization if anything.

Yes, it looked like a potato. But most games in potato mode don't run on that kind of hardware in VR.

If you are looking for a solid motorsport game to play on a wheel, I highly recommend giving this a try. The career mode is fun, and if that isn't your cup of tea, you can always set up your own races.

A review previously covered this very well - if i wanted to play Trackmania, i would play Trackmania.

I played this with a friend. I think that if I didn't, I would not have gotten very far.

To elaborate - when are we going to get something that isn't a checklist? This entire DLC is merely a series of chores. That's all it is. A checklist. Do x with y car. Do y with x car. Listen to someone yap on about Hot Wheels history, somehow leaving out all of the actually interesting bits, then do yy with xy car.

The game's physics cant even handle this DLC half the time. many of the cars clip into the ground or break entirely if you go through loops too fast.

The AI are completely deranged and unable to drive on these tracks, often slamming themselves into walls or freaking out on loops.

The "track editor" isn't even expanded upon. It doesn't give you free reign to build a track - you still are limited to starting only from where official events start, and the track pieces don't even auto-align. This is the same problem with EventLab in the base game. It sells an illusion of creative freedom without actually giving it to you.

The progression is repetitive. I'm unlocking things I've already done before. What happened to DLC expanding on a game in a creative way?

The set pieces are few and far between. All we have is 3 floating biomes that look like they were just plopped down with no rhyme or reason, no hovering platforms, just concrete slabs floating in midair. You spend a full 30 seconds between interesting pieces of track. And what the hell is the map design, anyway? You would think going from place to place in a Hot Wheels Paradise would mean going fast as hell through wild stunts and loops from iconic real life set pieces, but instead I'm slamming on the brakes every few minutes of driving to make a u-turn.

The online racing would be the thing you would think saves this, but it doesn't. If you make even the slightest mistake and tap a wall, you're race is over because the game thinks you are driving recklessly, despite there being no collisions at all in online races in this DLC. The racing routes themselves aren't even that great either. U-turns. U-turns on a Hot Wheels track, while you are going 300+_km/h. Was there any thought put into this?

The only real thing "Hot Wheels" about this DLC is the cars and the plastic tracks. There's no pizzaz, no childlike wonder to any of it. Somehow, spiralling plastic track winding through canyons and mountains has managed to be boring.


The only good thing about this entire thing was Deora II. And I don't even want to drive it.

s-tier level design on display. clever placement of cards and very precise movement physics make it extremely satisfying to replay levels to try and get aces and secrets. i found myself replaying some of the levels over and over again just because of how intensely fun and satisfying it was to use the soul cards.

this is the kind of game design that takes careful thought and planning all the way through - every level works and remains fun while still being challenging if you're going for those ace medals. 10/10 god i hope we get more in the future
