I honestly think definition number 1 is really bad and could lead to a lot of mistakes. It's just not ideal to take as granted that the sex assigned at birth is the absolute truth. Take the guevedoces for example. They seem to be absolutely females at birth, but then they develop male characteristics, rendering them males.

There are also many intersexual conditions that are not detectable at birth and will manifest later in puberty. Also, recently there was a child who was assigned as U (unknown). Does this make that child automatically transgender if later in the future chooses to be boy or girl rather than "unknown"?

In the world there are also people who develop mixed sexual characteristics at puberty (female voice and body shape + underdeveloped or malfunctioning penis + female gender identity. Or maybe male voice and masculine body + short or malfunctioning vagina + male gender identity, etc). Is it really right to say they are transgender if they decide to adapt their body to the sex that wasn't on their birth certificate because they don't resemble it both phisically and mentally?

I think the correct definition of "transsexual" is: A person who correctly develops as male or female and at a certain point of their life decides to change sex, in order to match their gender identity that was misaligned with it.
