Charming little game that accurately portrays the Brooklyn Bodega vibe

I really wanted to like this game (I loved The Cat Lady).

While Lorelai is visually beautiful, its story is a convoluted, pretentious mess with iffy voice-acting, and has gameplay plagued by pedantic puzzles and long cutscenes. Despite this emphasis on narrative, I felt a lack of emotional engagement for any of its characters (including our protagonist). Nobody seemed very well defined.

The game feels like it's trying to say and do so much, while accomplishing nothing. Not without its qualities, but I was thankful when it was over.

This game is plagued by an ugly, uncanny valley protagonist, poorly acted voices, tedious "puzzles," and repetitive, clunky combat. Just because it tackles the important issue of PTSD doesn't make the game automatically good, or 'arty".

It's garbage.

Is this game good?

No, it's extremely repetitive, ugly, and trite with its cover based gameplay and annoying, poorly-voice-acted, tropey story.

Does it have a TOTALLY EPIC ANIME SLIDE-DASH?!

HELL YES!

Does that save this game?
No. In fact, the game punishes you for trying to have fun with the dash.

Cool, surreal, informative, funny, and, most of all, free.

This game consists of four text based adventures with the twist that you use a screen within a screen and the text game slowly interacts with the in-game room around you. It's intriguing at first, even a bit trippy, but by the third section, the minute tasks become tedious and I found myself using a walk-through to progress, at that point only caring about the story.

The conclusion was, in my opinion, awful, and trite. It's one of those "it was all a dream" type things that thinks it's being clever but is actually boring and stock.

There are some good ideas here, and on sale, it may be worth your time for the $2.49, but the experience is mixed and there are better things out there.

I tried to go into this with an open mind, but I found this to be a generic open world game with bland combat and long cutscenes. If you love huge games with lots to do, you'll be satisfied, but if you're looking for fun gameplay, this isn't it.
