As of october 7th, the majority of the server problems seemed to have been resolved, made clear by the fact that I can now get into a full game within one minute of launching the game now.

Before it would take me over an hour to get in the game and would take me another hour to get into actually finding a match and playing.

Is it a perfect game, absolutely not. They definitely need to balance some of the guns and the netcode is kinda bad but it could also be the fact that most of the servers it puts me into I have high ping.

All in all, if you gave up on this game within the first week after launch, i highly recommend going back and giving it another shot.

Cant really comment on the main game as my pc with a 3050 and a ryzen 5 can't get over 25fps on low, and it feels like its in slow motion. From what i've seen, this game still needs at least another 6 months to a year to get fully polished out and that wouldn't even fix the core game play problems caused by the design of the specialists. Portal is cool and I can actually run it at a playable frame rate, although in it's current state its basically a stripped down version of previous installments.

To sum it up, they need to:
#1 Fix performance
#2 fix hit registration( there are clips online of people mag dumping into someone from 10 feet away and none of the bullets registrar, like you can even see blood coming out on every shot. )
#3 Fix weapon bloom(spread of shot) Battlefield finally got rid of spread in bf5 and it felt great, why its in this game I have no idea but it also dosn't help that its currently broken and much more aggressive than intended.

After they fix these things, it may work as intended and play good, but there are some other things that also need to be addressed although not game braking, but i just personally disagree with these design choices.

#4 Categorize specialists into the more traditional categories of assault ,engineer ,support, and recon classes.
#5 make it so you can tell where a medic is, who can give you Armour, health and ammo
#6 Remove some gadgets/weapons from being available to all classes - this is stupid, one of the things that made battlefield so great was the teamwork, knowing that you couldn't handle every threat on the map by yourself and that you would need other players using different classes to come out on top. If everyone can have an aa launcher and an rpg, in addition to in some cases healing and ammo regenerative abilities, why would anyone need to to work together.
#7 Add more guns, and balance current op guns- its no secret that there are not that many guns in this game so i hope they continue to add more in the future, as for balance one of the reasons that some guns a coming out on top over others currently probably has a strong correlation to the large amount of bloom and bad hit reg, so they will have to fix those in order to get a better grasp on weapon balance.

#8 last but not least, please port more assets from bfbc2, bf1942 and bf3 into portal as it would but such a big wasted opportunity not to do so. Heck, they could even mimic the old progression system in these games into 2042.

DICE has alot of work to do in order to undo the mess they have caused with this release, and although i acknowledge that EA probably pushed them to release it, I am still disappointed with the state of the game. I would say that I hope dice will fix everything, but im not really sure this time, they really f'd up. This game has so much potential, lets just hope they can fix it in the next 6 to 8 months and if they do, then I think ill be playing for along time, but if they pull a bf5, little content at release, then drop support 1 year in, then I fear this is death of the battlefield ip as we know it( some may argue that happened after bf1 hey i still found enjoyment out of them)

Just finished the game and i gotta say it was great.

The game starts off making the player feel very confused, and i think that done on purpose, but once you beat the first boss, the game really opens up. As you progress through the game, the confusion from earlier starts to be made more clear, as the game is constantly foreshadowing what may have caused the events form earlier in the game. Just when you think you have the story figured out, it goes in another direction. There were more mini boss fights than in re7, which i liked and the main boss fights felt more challenging as well. The climax and ending of the game are very satisfying, although it leaves many questions unanswered.

A more full review, with some Spoilers, but not really....

The castle is a good area, its very ascetically pleasing, and i enjoyed learning about the lore of the daughters and the lady. I just wish i could've gotten some milk...

The house didn't really feature much combat, but it scared the hell outta me and featured a good bit of story telling and item progression to unlock more areas throughout the village. I think the boss fight could've been better, but it fit the area. Smaller than the castle area.

The swamp took slightly more time than the house, and featured more combat, answered a lot of questions raised earlier in the game. Boss fight was pretty sick

The factory was definitely my favorite area, featured the most challenging enemies, and also the best boss fight. The ending of this area is also really good, and sets up the next part of the game to be really interesting.

The ending boss fight was great, and the scenes after the main ending of the game shined some light of what may be to come.

After completing the game, there is alot of bonus content to be unlocked such as more weapons and concept art that gives some insight into the development process.

I'm really looking forward to playing the dlc's for this game and the next main installment in the series.

I would say that i enjoyed this game just as much or more than re7, and would infidelity recommend it .

One of the best semi tactical/realistic shooters i've played in a long time!
You dont get headshoted from 1000m away like arma 3 and you cant meme people with an smg like in insurgency... youll get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by a air stike or step on a punji trap eventually.
It also helps that the game is set during the vietnam war making it seem fresh and new compared to overly used modern settings and ww2 settings.

1.4 is a patch that redoes a lot of the core mechanics of the game and has made the game way better than the game in 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3patch's. Unfortunatly for ubisoft, it may be to late for a good patch as new games are coming out like bf1, civ6, skyrim remasterd, mw4 remasterd, ect and the interst for this game has pretty much died out.I would love to see this game make a come back and If u can get this game for under 20 dollars, it may be a good buy
