Just realized I never reviewed this game.

Probably the best Metroidvania/Rogue-Lite (Lite because when you die you don't completely start from scratch - you earn currency and can buy equipment and skill upgrades) I've played on Steam.

Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys the genre and hasn't experienced this yet. Absolutely worth full price.

Use a controller and Get Gud, some of the achievements are quite difficult.

Early Access Review
Fantastic rogue-like on the fly deck building game. Yes it's still in early access, but the developers are very active and frequently balance/update.

In it's current form, it's a complete game and very addictive. Quite difficult in my opinion, some of which is RNG related e.g. which cards you're able to find early on dictates the build you'll go for, certain bosses are harder on classes/builds than others, etc.

One thing I think would be nice is some sort of self heal for The Silent - maybe a leeching poison. The other 2 classes have them (relic for The Ironclad, card for The Defect).

Other than the RNG factors, the only drawback for me was that there wasn't much to do after unlocking all cards/relics and beating the game with each class - but that took me almost 50 hours to accomplish. I didn't feel compelled to get all the other achievements. There is a daily challenge feature, but this wasn't a draw for me either. Game feels like it needs something to keep you playing - possibly earn experience/permanent currency from each run after unlocking everything and spend it on new cards/skills/initial upgrades....it needs something to provide additional replayability.

Definitely recommend though if you enjoy these types of games - a lot of similarities to hearthstone, but a much better single player experience.

Thought the concept was interesting based on the description/videos. Felt like an unpolished obtuse side scrolling wanna be puzzle game, with a lot of trial and error involved. Wasn't for me.

Final Fight/Streets of rage clone, with RPG elements (shops, items, gear). For a game all about the combat, combat wasn't that interesting/polished.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time, but can't recommend based on what I've played.

Nice little puzzle/platformer game that utilizes freezing time/time travel to manipulate your surroundings and solve puzzles. Short game, 2 hours to beat - and that was basically playing chapter VII twice since progress is only saved upon completing a chapter.

Overall I would recommend this game, but not at full price - wait until it's 50% off or so.

NES Zelda Clone with a different theme, clunky controls, shotgun takes too long to reload and shoot/doesn't do enough damage unless you're upclose (I get it, it's a shotgun, not fun for this type of game though), generally underwhelming. Good for a trip down nostalgia lane, but can't recommend.

Controls are loose, attack animations take too long, jumps don't register sometimes (and the game is about dodging and avoiding stuff or parrying an attack at the perfect moment).

Doesn't make for an enjoyable experience - the difficulty is artificially inflated because of the controls. Could have been way better than it is. Also the music gets annoying after a little bit, just like the levels and combat.

This game scratches an itch I didn't know I had.

A truly free Turn based RPG/clicker/idler, with surprising depth in terms of class mechanics/relics/abilities/items - no real story to speak of though (doesn't need one).

Even though it's free, I'd recommend buying the $1.99 M. Clock VIP upgrade ASAP, makes the game much more enjoyable when it's sped up (if you really want you can farm and unlock this for free too).

Wanted to like the game, great art style, good story. Combat just wasn't fun for me - janky controls and aiming, plus durability on weapons and armor - no thanks.
