Early Access Review
Dev is actively working on the game, and it's already a pretty solid game that stands out from it's inspiration, They are Billions. Around a year ago, the game had a demo in which players were asked for feedback, and I posted one in the discussion forums. One of my points I'll actually quote below.

"Next, I find it difficult to work with the limited vision we have. Units have a very short range at which they reveal the map, which makes it difficult to scout new areas. We have a spaceship in orbit sending shuttles up and down, surely someone can take a look out the window and let us know there's a mountain range 30 feet from the base. (Less jokingly, there could be a spaceship module to let us slowly reveal areas around our base)."

Since then, I actually bought the game and played a couple hours when lo and behold, there is a ship module that can scan areas for scouting, and a passive ability you can equip called "Shuttle Windows" that reveals all mountains when the game starts.

Consistently developed and supported for years. Active modding community makes the game not only a solid foundation, but also have a good future.

I loved HD1, and I love HD2. The devs have been extremely responsive to fixing launch issues, and the monetization system is quite fair. The only complaint I have is the baseline ability to, in theory, pay real money for a tangible benefit in game in the form of unique armor. I hope this is something that is changed in a future update.

Edit: Sony Playstation linking is just stupid. I'm not interested in connecting another useless account just so some company can sell my data. I still love this game, but I cannot justify a positive review right now.

Edit 2: LET'S GOOOO

Wonderful strategy game, and reliably goes on insanely good sales. As of posting this game, XCOM 2 and the main DLC, War of the Chosen, are both 95% off. $5 for this game + DLC is a steal.

Incredibly fun, shines when you have 3 others to play with, shines best when those 3 aren't morons

A surprisingly complex and difficult game if you choose to try higher difficulties, but still very enjoyable and not terribly pressuring at lower difficulties. Overall, big fan.

Very solid, the new update feels like it could've been a $5 DLC but is free with the base game. The two planets have completely different logistics and production, with the base snowy planet focusing more on self-contained loops and base defense, while the new lava planet focuses more on liquid manipulation and unit production, and less on moving items around. Both are entirely different experiences with entirely different tech trees, and you can play either one whenever.

Early Access Review
Incredibly fun to play with friends, and still a viable solo game if you're willing to put up with bots that are slightly below the capabilities of the average player. I'd still recommend it at full price, but it does frequently go on sale for 75% off which is absolutely nuts. Game gets active dev support still, and a variety of ways to play. The community is really fun with relative openness to new players.

Has a bit of a learning curve, but genuinely fun and the devs are giving constant attention to major problems. Brutal and unforgiving if you don't know how to fight or talk your way out of hairy situations, but the variety of playstyles leads to generally fun gameplay.
