amazing experience with friends. not exaggerating when i say the devs ACTUALLY care and are amazing with content, community engagement and feedback. not only that but the game plays extremely well and feels super high quality. the controls are tight, the gunplays great, the stratagem system is unique and fun. is better made than 90% of AAA games out these days. it's unique, fun, challenging and has a great gameplay loop that has many playing for hundreds of hours.

i can finally drop a positive review now that the Sony situation has been sorted : )

its looking grimm

the lack of community engagement, lazy content, aggressive monetisation and controversy with blizzards workplace misconduct, prioritising profit and staff layoffs overwatch is in a very poor state and the fans have severe mistrust towards blizzard

why even make a sequal?
show me the moneyyyy

overwatch 2 doesn't feel like a substantial enough updated and it seems the now cancelled PVE was an excuse to slyly move the game to its current monetisation model which has garnered much hate and genuine criticism. a single legendary skin bundle will run you $30 AUD, some bundles with multiple get up to $80 AUD. new characters are locked behind the lacklustre battlepass paywall for $15 AUD of which you don't have the opportunity to gain the games premium currency from like other popular micro transaction centred games which is horrendously greedy yet blizzard has not once responded to the backlash and continues to market the game in this state. the battlepass has 100 tiers after which you unlock "titles" for your account which is not very engaging and overall boring yet again paling in comparison to other battlepass systems in popular games. they should introduce alternate colour ways of the current battlepass skins with special affects or something that makes them observantly unique. overwatch 2 does actually have alternate colour ways for some skins in a much worse, lazier way for purchase in the item shop, some of the designs are straight up worse by than the existing skins which is commonly colloquially agreed. the shop was previously worse with straight up illegal marketing strategies like fake sales (i'm not to sure if this is still a thing but they also made it impossible for you to purchase skins outside of bundles forcing you to spend the $30 for the skin which they silently addressed with one skin some time ago) i have a feeling they still do this practice from a recent view of the shop but i could be wrong.

Grind Grind Grind
the artificial kind

you can unlock these hero's mid way through the "free" version of the battlepass which requires grinding, point stands players have the option to have instant access to a powerful character due to the games power creep for money which is obviously an issue and conveniently hasn't really been addressed by blizzard aswell. they lowered the the requirement to get them by 10 tiers which in contrast to the 100 tiers of the battle pass is nothing. alternatively if you miss the character in the 2 months the season is up you can unlock them through some easy practice range challenges and then winning 35 games in the respective role they're in. they're not impossible to get, just annoying which adds to player frustration. oh and btw a completely useless and further frustrating issues is you don't even have access to all the Free to play characters as a new player you'll need to play 150, yes you heard me correctly ONE - HUNDRED & FIFTY games to unlock all the basic cast. thanks blizzard!

Balance concerns
monkey at a keyboard ah devs

the new characters brings us to the balance concerns of the game which could be a whole review on its own. older characters feel left in the dust and stale in comparison to the modern roster. i'm no professional player but the pro scene has some very genuine concerns that i feel in my games and fully recognise and aline with. specifically with how powerful healers are (of which we've received 3 new ones during the course of the games life) their kits are overloaded. damage, crowd control, invulnerability, escape abilities, self regen they've got it all some on ridiculously low cool downs. its very hard to punish them, Healers might aswell get moved to the DPS role. they're better than the DPS to be honest they're Dps+

What the hell happened to PVE?
You don't give a ♥♥♥♥, thats what happened

and the kicker. the cancellation of the PVE due to "doing too many things at once and losing focus, pulling resources away from the live service game” i find this hard to swallow in a time we're blizzard is making good money that they weren't able to work on the PVE along side the liver service part of the game, there we're surely a million routes they could have gone down before even considering cancellation but that's just it, they don't care, there's no passion or drive to deliver, they cancelled it out of pure laziness, there's not even respect for the playerbase to follow through with the whole main attraction to the sequel, gone. if anything its their own fault for laying off their staff even during their best financial year. i have a feeling they put their focus towards a roadmap that was more profitable for them, not for the fun of the players fun. did i mention the ghost of the few missions they released is $15 AUD? the community agrees its very "mid" content for the price and doesn't have much to offer oh and the overwatch league one of biggest esports has dissolved due to internal company turmoil, yeah...

come on blizzard do better
like seriously how can you keep failing so bad

the launch was a ♥♥♥♥ show, the game peaked at season 3 and it has continued to nose dive ever since. overwatch really is a shell of a game it used to be. blizzards silent treatment and refusal to back down on their bad decisions has left players feeling betrayed, lacking trust and upset. some first steps for to take the game in a better direction would be to address player concerns head on, openly and transparently, actually engage with and listen to the community, seriously lay back on the monetisation and work on shop improvements, improve the battle pass such as introducing the ability to earn premium currency, reworking the tiers past 100 and possibly removing trinkets (which almost no one uses) and replacing them with something else. put more effort into the skins and content that you do offer because for going on about putting all your effort into the live service part of the game i hardly see any. honestly admit you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up too. i feel that these few changes would excel OW2 and bring it back or close to its former glory. but i have a feeling that's not going to happen, at least till there's a change of management. the modern trend of gaming prioritising their shareholders and profit over their players and the quality of games is scary and destroying the industry. i don't know how long fans can go getting kicked around, ignored and distorted while blizzard gives them the silent treatment. but i have a feeling its not going to work for them much longer. prove us wrong and listen to the players. be better. I and many others will gladly change our tune when life is breathed back into the game and the fans are the focus.

Cult of the Lamb pulls you in with not only its charming little animal friends but quite literally with its necessary micromanagement of the games mechanics. it feels between the guiding of your followers, crusades and side content like you're always on your feet. the fast-paced combat is no exception giving quite the thrill feeling when you blitz through a level fast. Out of all the Roughlites/likes I've played I'd have to say COTL is the easiest but to you difficulty snobs out there don't Pass it up. COTL still Provides a Unique fun experience and worth adding to your repertoire.

Playing on the hardest difficulty, Doing most of the side content and building my base up i got a very enjoyable 34 hours out of my first playthrough and looking forward to tackling the rest of the bosses and prettying up my cult.

Sadly for now theres not much content outside of that. Perhaps and Evil (or Good) playthrough but nothing more than. Not all is grim and dark though as Massive Monster has stated that they're already working on more content which i eagerly look forward to

Now the Bad. towards the end of the game i felt some pacing issues. aforementioned i took my time doing most of the content as it came to me so when i was i'd 70% through my playthrough i had all upgrades expendable followers, all the resources i need and money had lost all meaning. quite literally could not get rid of it faster than i was making it. i feel as if the game peaked a little soon with the abundance of these resources nut the overall killer to the experience was the abundance of bugs all of which i encountered in the base building section of the game.

Quests failing as soon i accepted them, Followers standing static in the middle of a field no longer being interactable, followers not doing jobs, half my followers going missing until i quit and reload the game, hunger is seemingly broken or misrepresented as the bar does not fill as much as the cooking menu suggests it will, faith not capable of filling all the way, the work menu saying there is no work available for a specific task when there is, not being able to select random followers in menus such as the confession booth and accession ritual, The Roman numerals representing a followers level disappear after lvl 30.

now that may seem like a daunt list but honestly other than an annoying reload every now and again it wasn't too bad and massive monster have been released two patches as of this review. however neither addressing any of the problems i've stated.

Bugs and all i still had loads of fun and i think Cult of the lamb is a unique approachable fun experience that i do recommend you pick it up

Early Access Review
Wait for the devs to get their act together

I am very confused as to what happened to this game. I remember playing this game 2 years ago with my friends and finding it very interesting. We exhausted basically all the content in a short amount of time and where eager for more. Finally the newest update got introduced and upon opening the game in excitement! Major disappointment. The game feels worse somehow and i struggle to describe it. From weird creative choices like shortening the colour options to only a few colours when creating a character to horrible performance issues my game spiking and dropping down to sub 30 fps every 6-10 seconds or so on my $1700 PC i built at the beginning of the year. My game also looks nothing like it used to or the promotional material.

And another feature that needs to be majorly tweaked is the mechanic of using up oxygen when performing a task such as hitting something or running. It just runs out way faster then it should and really needs to tuned to using less when performing tasks such as hitting things or removed alltogether. It's just unfun.

Also having to repair my suit every couples minutes needs to be tuned aswell. it is a routine of patching your suit every couple minutes or so because there is a leak and it is as you probably guessed it not fun. definitely fix this one guys.

This game had so much potential and i want to know where it all went? I do recommend not spending your money at least just yet. I hope the devs come to an understanding it needs far more support and fixing now then ever. Please get your act together because this game can be so much more.
