Use to be just shlocky zombie bashign fun. But then they threw in microtransactions into a game that was not only sixty dollars, not only has dlc, but a year after it was bought.

Yea imma be looking to get my mone yback. I might not but i think more people should make the attempt just to show that if they want to take money from us like that, how about we try to take the money we gave back?

Imma be simple here and say that This is pretty good content. If a lot unfocused. More adding onto rosters rather tahn having a dlc themed around the new units in question. The campaigns are good, if needing more balance still.

The price is too much though. I ended up paying for it, but i could refund later if i so choose, though for Me personally it is five dollars too expensive. For some that would be alot. For others not much at all. But it did start a controversy for a legitimate reason at its core... Even if i feel that controversy has overflowed into just pure emotion and confusion.

When you play a game for 50 hours cause you are an idiot who didn't give back a clearly badly designed game back when you could.

The game has a lot of potential but its wasted entirely on artificial diffuclty. Basically its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the start. It has no sense of progression and it immediately throws you into a situation wehre you are completely outmatched and ahve to rely on pure blind luck to progress anywhere. You re never given enough time to react to enemies and the game LOVES to make them waiting for you in blind corners where reaction time cannot help you. Its random nature can even create a situation whre you are ambushed by powerful enemies the moment you enter the 'mines' area, the very start. it can even get you killed by environmental threats that you hadn't encountered before or the RNG nature of the game didn't provide you a defense against.

Good example is fire and poison. You need a water vial to cleanse that debuffs. But the random nature of the game will often leave you with a potion instead that, despite being liquid and not flammable liquid, will not save you. And the mine area is full of fire and poison enemies and traps.

For as often as you die, the game gives you absolutely no reward for even trying. You are given at the start two wands, one weapon one and one explosive wand, and a potion. No matter what spells and wands you've found along the way, no matter what enemies you kill, you will NEVER earn anything that can make it easier. And note, this is a game that is constantly killing you, and many of the effects can in fact kill you so you are not even able to safely experiment cause you can immediately end all your progress instantly.

The game is also chock full of completely useless aspects. You have an eating system that is completely useless as it has no gameplay impact outside of debuffing you if you eat too much. You have potions with special effects, like plymorphing and buffs... Which are completely useless because they don't last very long, and even directly drinking the potion has no effect whatsoever. You can unlock powerful weapons and spells but that is purest luck and rng and you can NOT get by with skill in this game, it will ♥♥♥♥ you over, if the wand's own powers doesn't just instantly kill you.

The game needs something that rewards playing and making any kind of progress. Like a control of spell loadouts maybe? Perks? Anything with a tangible benefit that isn't you learning one way the game ♥♥♥♥♥ you over only to die by another forty ways it does? and again, it has no sense of progress cause things are hyper lethal from the getgo and get even more hyper lethal as you go forward.

to add a few more 'ways this game ♥♥♥♥♥ you'. Your currency in the game despawns, which isn't uncommon for games, but the problem is other enemies and environmental hazards can kill them long before you get there, meaning you lose the chance of getting that currency yourself. I wouldn't be surprised that 60% of potential money gained is lost before you reach it.
As i said, you can get starting gear that isn't gonna help you against hazards at all.
There are trapped chests that look exactly like normal chests and those chests often have needed supplies in them. This only ♥♥♥♥♥ you over period. This isn't just mimics, its fires and explosives and other ♥♥♥♥.
Other creature can damage the few safe areas in the game. You get punished for other things destroying them.

And as a final ♥♥♥♥ you, you get no recovery items of any kind. Not from eating, not from potions. Some spells can heal but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shoot away from you meaning you ahve to get lucky and get something that lets them actually heal you. And even worse, you can get health upgrades..... And they don't heal you when you stumble upon them.

Generally speaking the game makes you have to be inanely vigilante with limited health resource that can't be recovered naturally, especially with how horrible the game is when it comes to unfair deaths. The game is ultimately more responsible for your failures than you are, and that ain't a good game, Period.

This was a wild ride, both very hussie and yet different. WEirdly emotional, weirdly existential... And yet i feel there is another layer hidden between the lines, another story revealed only at the end.

Sometimes you must step away from what you've created if its gone too far.

I fortunately had to wait about a year for this vs everyone else who have waited for a long time. Development issues and all that for an indie game. But it was pretty worth the wait!

Its funny, full of character, and dark as well in places. It has less of the adventure game vibes of the original hiveswap but it focuses more on characters than collecting ♥♥♥♥ to try everything on everything. And has some nice moments overall.. Even though they game sorta ends in a strange and adrupt way.

Still i would recommend it personally but it might not be for all.

While the game starts out a little clumsy and messy, very shortly the Writes, artists, and overal story takes form. It is immensely enjoyable and honestly does not necessarily require prior homestuck knowledge to view it. Though it helps.

Throughout its release last year i was rather worried that the overall story would go nowhere or some shenanigans would occur that would invalidate it. Would it just be a typical non canon introduction to these character, show sides we won't be able to see in Hiveswap? But then..... yea shenanigans. The ultimate shenanigans even. Beautiful alarming, very homestucky shenanigans that put everything you would preconceive about Friendsims to doubt. That it may be more than the romp we know and that there is a grander plan.

A grander plan that most likely did not exist when they first announced and release it in april last year. Cause if there is one think that is super homestucky, is pulling a grand plot out of your ass and giving it the illusion that everything is going to plan.

with Pesterquest now out and going through its own release cycle, i find myself rather invested to see where this leads.

And here we go again. We follow the strange mspa reader as he somehow blunders his way through homestuck itself. And soooo many moer questions arise.

Just three volumes in but so far everything is really good. The Homestuck characters know and love and given form beyond the simply shapes and chibi forms of varying consistency. Art is beautiful. Writing and characterization is on point. So yea worth a buy.

I do have some question about how the story will overall go. No spoilers but... yea it is intersting what is allowing the romp through canon to hapen and the consequences of it.

I will warn you that you at this stage, need to have at least read/played Friendsims. This is a direct continuation and the prior game is being somewhat consistently, if fuzzily, referenced. You need to have read at least the first half of the epilogues, meat at least.... Also generaly you need to have read hoemstuck in general XDXD

We do not entirely know how deeply involved the Pesterquest will be with the Epilogues. We already have two references to it, one blatant and one an easteregg. For safety reasons, read friendsims and epilogues. Friendsims to understand the motivations of the Reader, Epilogues to avoid being spoiled.

For starters i have recently learned that the Creator Shepple, along with her girlfriend, are heavily transphobic.

However not a single element of this game seems to express that toxicity. The characters, while not super unique, are enjoyable, the art and music are gorgeous, and the gameplay is decently sharp as well. Can be legit challenging too. The story emphasizes the importance of compassion and accepting people for who they are.

So how could the main dev have such a toxic mentality? And seeming contradictory too. She is gay, a lesbian. So why is she so anti trans when often times both have the same prejudice set against them?

Whatever is wrong with the dev's head, whatever lead her to such prejudices and foolishness, the game seems to surpassed those prejudices. Almost by accident i suppose. As if the game transcended their prejudices and was inclusive to all to spite them. An unruly child that won;t be burdened by their parents' foolishness.

I can still recommend to anyone who enjoys rpgs like this. However you have to accept it as a separate entity and that the money will go to someone with prejudices that seem contrary to their own creations' nature. There are honestly FAR worse people out there that end up paid for what they create and provide than a transphobic lesbian. And it will probably go to the other devs who probably helped keep the game from being the transphobic nightmare it could have been.

Sorry heartbeat. You deserve better than a racist mom, but a good game must be promoted even if their creator is flawed. If we didn't seperate artist from their work, we wouldn't have the lovecraftian themes.. Though to be fair in lovecraft's case he has been dead for like ninety years now.

Edit- A thought occured to me. Very mild spoilers but there is a character in the game that seems to be an allegory for what happens when you let hatred rule your thoughts, and your actions. Essentially all bigotry is about letting hatred rule you, hatred directed unfairly, or sometimes even fairly, against a group or groups.

Artists are weird creatures and often project hidden levels of themselves without realizing it. the Ender games series was written by a homophobic individual... Yet had a couple of homosexual characters that were not villified.

With each volume the Friendsims dig deeper into alternia's lore, the narrative becomes more itneresting, more of its darkness is touched, and more and more questions are asked about the individual whom we are experiencing this series through. And the question of whether or not this is as loosely canonical to the main game becomes ever harder to answer. Along with how the bleeding hell has the cullbait sunova ♥♥♥♥♥ survived this world XD
