(Oh and I guess there's also decoration grinding, or hero stones to upgrade your armor, but decoration grinding is actually dumb RNG bs, It's better just to download a mod that lets you buy them, some people have gotten several right off the bat, and I have 1k hours and only ever got 1 or 2 out in the wild)

if you compare this is a JRPG or a western grindy MMORPG, there's no real grind here, if you just wanna beat the main story and the optional quests, no grinding required, if you wanna have the best most optimized in DPS build possible at the absolute end game, then yes you would have to grind Kulve Taroth form some of the best weapons in the game, but that's the only grind I can think of, unless you want to count failing against Behemoth with randoms until you finally beat him a grind, Kulve is a grind because of RNG and how many times you need to beat her, Behemoth gives the best armor in the game so far but you only have to beat him like once or twice, especially with the plunder blade giving you extra parts from him, I agree with your review though, the game isn't for everyone

You're not forced to wear armor best fit for the situation, it is recommended and that's one of the fun parts of the game to prepare yourself the best you can like a real hunter for each hunt, but there are people who have beat this game naked with default starting weapons, you're not forced to wear anything, that's without mentioning you can just put on the layered armor/cosmetic armor that goes over your real armor; Also, I don't think this is a grindy game in the slightest compared to many other Japanese RPGs or western RPGs
