Great game ruined by Sony.

Arrowhead studios riding the tail coat of their much deserved success, until Sony decided to remove half the players from the game by requiring PSN sign-in.

Not to mention the amount of technical bugs this game is having. One step forward, two steps back. Probably because they're releasing so much new content so quickly they don't have the manpower to fix the bugs.

Aside from that, great game. Loved HD1. Don't buy. Wait for sale or until they fix the game. (Will give positive review once promises have been met.)

Edit: We won versus corporate Sony Greed.

Edit 2: August 7th, 2024.

I understand Arrowhead is working with a dead game engine and they had to release the game ahead of their plans, but their gameplay design philosophy needs rework. They're probably still using spreadsheets to identify issues and changes when things are much more nuanced than just popular statistics. They have repeatedly nerfed popular weapons based on statistics. Given very little thought to weaker weapons/strategems. Move forward by buffing lesser used weapons please. One step forward, two steps back. They consistently tell the community they want the game to be fun, but they've done the exact opposite every time. This game is supposed to be a parody, but the design team seems to take things too seriously mean while giving the enemy infinite rockets, but would only give the players a 75 round drum magazine because of "realism" or something.

Wait for a sale. I will not be recommending a game that is unpolished since launch. Which is wearing very thin with the community. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this game.

Edit Setp 20, 2024: Game works fine now. Weapons are in a much better state. Hopefully the trend will continue. Everything sorely needed buffs.

Capcom CEO complains that $60 isn't enough. Baseline price since 2000. Expectation:

-Actually finished product
-No paid day 1 "extra content"
-No micro transactions
-Any DLC is a full length game added to base game

At $70 per game, I expect more, but what we get is:

-Maybe a finished product with promises to fix
-Paid micro transactions
-Day 1 Paid "extra content"
-DLC at $40-$60 with less than %15 of a full games worth of content.

Wait till the game is fixed. Crashes a lot. Otherwise, great game from what I could play. 100% deserved review bomb. Unfortunate that it had to be dragons dogma 2 to get the brunt of the controversy.

Saw the game on youtube. I liked the game initially; I even spent $8 for the starter pack because I wanted to support the game.

That was until saw how expensive their battle pass. Locking operators behind a paywall and including them in Ranked. $50 (Discount included) total in premium currency (Coins) for the entire battle pass. Meaning they split 4 characters into 4 different passes costing 3000 coins each, however $28 gets you 5000 coins and $12 gets 2500. Thanks premium currency trend. Not to mention you can pay to upgrade your characters. Sure, you can just buy one battle pass, but there are plenty of other free games out there. A few people calculated the amount of free currency and time to unlock characters.

Clearly the devs know how to put good value into a $8 bundle. They just choose not to in their battle passes or anywhere else.

I much prefer this game to PUBG. I think PUBG has a bit of an identity issue and wants to be everything. This game balances it out quite nice and the 3 different forms of movement really add to the overall pacing of the game.

My only issue with this game is the combat, the refresh rate, and the grappling movement option.
Combat seems a bit stiff and favors camping. I know camping is inevitable, but maybe add a gas/molotov grenade to flush people out or something. Leaning should always be a key bind action if implemented.

Refresh/tick rate of the game seems a bit off. On my screen I shot dead on, but died to a head shot a second later. It's always going to be an issue with battle royale games sure, but it's still a legitimate claim if they want to be competitive or have a public k/d win/loss statisitics.

The Grappling movement option is severely limited to the predetermined routes on the map and the rock climbing is next to useless and extremely slow. A glider player could just get ahead of the grappling player and wait for them to show up to the next point and shoot them or the grappler could risk taking a fall and dying or attempt to go back up the rappeling line, which is extremely slow to turn around. They should greatly reduce fall damage for grapplers or add a parachute or increase the speed of the grappling movement and landing.

Aslo, something can be said about the game ending heli, but I don't have a solution for that yet.

Overall 7/10

It's okay. Time will tell how long this game takes to be a full title.

It's simple survival. We've seen it all by now. This is just a winter version of survival. You get hungry every minute, youget cold every minute and half the time you're looking for food and the other half, crafting/exploring. Yes, I do like the exploring, but the hunger system needs to be toned down. Day cycles are 5 mins a day I think. Didn't care much to find out. Too busy finding food so I don't die.

The biggest gripe I have with this game so far is the progression system and dying. Yes, this game is hardcore on normal difficulty, but it's not even a fair hardcore game. When you die, you loose all your items, all your exp, all your levels, and you start at the very beggining of the game (Plane crash). Yeah, so if you ventured far across the map and die... good luck playing catch-up with your friends and you'll have to start from square one excluding all the nice loot you found because nothing respawns after you loot it (aside from normal basic items.) This defeats the purpose of playing in my opinion. Yes, get gud, but when I die, I just quit or start an entire new game (for new loot and map). Not a solo game.

5/10. Seen this done before, simple, hardcore, but too unforgiving.

Do I recommend it? Eh, I love the dark souls series, but this is just painful to play. If you're a true masochist, then sure. Otherwise, buy something else while the devs are working things out.

If you liked the previous ones, this one is good to pick up.
If you haven't, this is a decent place to start, though I would highly recommend you start from the first game.

Updated graphics looks great compared to the older titles and is probably the best in the tell-tale series to date.

Controls for xbox takes a little getting used to and I haven't tried the keyboard/mouse.

This game follows a different main character this time around with the emphasis on Clementines support role rather than a 'main character.' It takes place a few years after the events of Season/Part 2 which they fill in as you play probably somewhere in Virginia.

As of 12/22/16, the game has done well to bring you back, but the filler of the Clementine's past leaves more to be desired at the moment.

Gameplay, 8/10. Some cut scenes include characters which are supposed to be absent. Unless there's a conspiracy in the game.
Sound/music, 7/10. The jump scares change the music drastically, then returns to normal in a short period, which throws me off.
Graphics, 7/10. It's great in it's own way visually, but the animations do need work sometimes.
Story, 7/10. For a user who's played the previous games, it leaves more to be desired as mentioned. The main character is good, but it's hard to care about them from the get go. Boners, weed, and periods.

Overall, 7.5/10.

I will revise when the game has all 5 episodes.

10/10 would decieve people to get lynched.

Need to fix random freezing in-game. Sometimes the game won't update chat/game.
