Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a great CRPG and a true successor to the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale series. It isn't a casual experience though. Don't come into the game expecting to casually kill everything you come across, it's not that kind of game.
The writing is pretty solid and the characters are well written as well. The story does a good job keeping the player interested and there are a lot of roleplaying options, as well as some meaningful choice and consequence.
The game is based on a series of books and an already developed rule set. Although it started really rough around the edges, it had a huge amount of polish in the meantime. The developers of the game are very committed.
This game probably has the deepest in terms of synergie and mechanics compared to the current CRPGs on the market.
