I have only 4 hours into this game, but I see good things and bad things. I didnt expain guns or other stuff like that so go look at another review for better explaining.

COMBAT: You start with a Combo gun which has a grappling hook and can shoot stuff short range. Go find a gun. Shoot stuff, Red crystals are health, blue is energy, yellow is Exp. You level up a few stats.

STATS: Health = more health. Same with energy and damage. Then theres stealth, 1-4 walking is quiet, 5-9 shooting is quiet, 10-14 Can cloak. And something for 15 Which i cant remember, building gives extra hacking time and can build after 5, 10 is decoys, 15 is turrets, Agility is speed, 5 points to double jump, 10 to dash, 15 to stop time...

MODES: Normal is dying takes a random point away (Little rant about this later), Limited lifes is 4 lifes but no point loss, and hardcore is 1 life, make it count.

RANT: I play on normal but, some rooms have 1 entry point and can be hard. So if I die, I can lose points. But, When you lose Health, attack or energy. ITs a REAL pain in the butt. Cause you can go back in the room. Die. Lose more of that. Then Repeat. AKA: you get stuck. Also, alot of the rooms look the same and its easy to get lose after a dead end, There is no map unless you need to find one Which I have not.

PROS: Looks nice
Fun
Music is nice, BUT after a while can be repetive.
Sounds fine
Making levels and mods (Havent tested)
Rougelike-ish

CONS: Can get lost and theres no map
Losing points and then getting stuck in a room cause you lost points that you need to get though the room cause it hard, Pain in the butt
The Overlord can say the same thing about 100000 times.
Difficulty spikes, Room to room, enemy to enemy.

Still recommend it. I say "Cause and Also" way too much

I'm going to do this fast and simple.Hopefully. I will compare this to 3089 and 3079.

Combat: Guns are 2 types, energy and ammo. Energy takes energy (No duh), ammo takes ammo. You can buy ammo at weapon shops and find it. There is no Certain gun only ammo, it works for all guns. Unlike 3079, guns have a clip. You can only shoot so much before waiting a few seconds to reload. This rule also applys for energy weapons. Holding right-click with a sword charges a dash attack that may do more damage.(I don't know if it does...) That can be used to kill flying enemies. Weapons have stats that have multiple effects. Swords can reflect shots, corrode,(Corrode = Poison) stun, and a few more I think. This can also apply to guns.

Crafting: Killing enemies can drop parts. Parts can be combined at a workstation to make guns if they are the same type of gun.(Can't put a dagger blade on a sword hilt) Some parts are better than others. Weapons have an overall level. Level 1 weapons can have a level 3 part if I remember correctly.

Skills: The skills are Stamina, Defense, Energy, Agility, Guns, Melee, Stealth, Prestige,Programming, Consumables, Pilot, and Stealing. Stamina is health, Defense is damage you take per shot, Energy is maximum energy, Agility is Max burden for running and jumping. You can still run and jump when over burdened, but it will be slower. Guns is gun damage, same with melee. Stealth is how fast you get detected when in stealth mode, Prestige is lower prices, more and stronger followers, Programming is better results when modding chips,(talk about that later) Comsumables is how effective comsumables are, Pilot is piloting better vehicles, and Stealing is better change at stealing. That run-on sentence, wow.

Enemy Bases: Enter enemy base,kill all enemies in the square, use convert chip, repeat with expantion chip. But now, there is Convert points. They power the gear in enemy bases so you can use it. When you raid, a lot of gear will be turned off meaning you can't use it. That's all I can think of for this right now.

Stations: They explain themself, Armor, Weapons, Quests, Workstation, Chips, Health/Energy stations. But, Utility stations are the cool grappling hooks, Black holes that hold people in place, hoverboards, Gravity guns, Decoys and Teleporting Cube Gun. Also, grappling hook dont take you out of stealth unlike 3079.

Building: I Never really built outside of messing with it to see how it works so... I don't really know.

I would write more but I really don't feel like it, cause it still need to explain; Aircraft, Time stopping, Gun types. Few others I can't think of. Go read another review or just look up gameplay.

TL:DR Its fun and smooth look sounding ect. ect. Just go get it.

Trying to 100% and Its fun.
I'm not writing a full review, try the demo and if its fun, buy it.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a fun game, if you like Roguelikes. There is quite a big bit of content and is very hard. But, has a lot of RNG which is OK for a roguelike. There is A LOT of resources to manage ( Health,PSI,Food,Ammo, also durability, your medical stuff you want, junk, blablabla) and you have a limited invertory. Unless you have a item that increases it. The learning curve is huge and a lot of stuff that is like "I can't use it or mix it" so you drop it and then 10 games later you find a station or mix it and blablabla. IT HAS PERMADEATH, kinda. There are special storage pods to put gear/exp in and pass them to other runs. You will die a lot, like ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT. I recommend it if you like RNG heavy game and hard game.

P.S THERE IS ALOT OF SKILLS AND I DONT KNOW WHAT MOST DO SO... HORRAY?
