Streets of Rogue, in my opinion, is a very real good nice cool game.

... That's pretty much all I could say about it. The developer, matt dabrowski, also takes feedbacks from just about the whole community. Some suggestions i've seen in the past have actually made it into the real game, which is super cool.

... That's not actually all I have to say about streets of rogue, i am now going to tell you my life story of streets of rogue(yes you have to know this)

When I first got streets of rogue, it was only in version alpha 22, or some number close to that. Only two districts existed at the time. I played the game a few times with a friend, and then stopped. Except I came back sometime later and wow! A third district was added, which was very exciting for me so I went and checked it out. After some number of days, players were able to create their own characters to play as, rather than existing ones. This made the game really replayable for me, which meant that i probably played a few weeks playing sor in that update... Actually, this life story takes too long to write i give up

tldr; good game good developer good community

[This review has been updated because I feel like I judged this game really harshly. This "new" review is mostly based on my memory of this game.]
This was actually a pretty enjoyable game, a lot of its mechanics were satisfying to play with.
The crafting system only required you to get at least three different materials, which made it really easy to keep track of what you need.
The combat system was great too, the first area of the game had worm enemies that were satisfying to hit with melee swings. There were various skills the player could equip which were able to change the player's playstyle entirely. I remember there being a skill that summoned spinning swords around my character which encouraged dangerously close combat with enemies.
While your characters do die permanently, you can only die if you are hit while your health is 1. Taking more damage than you can handle will set your character's health to 1 instead of killing them. This feature allowed me to know how dangerous a situation was without having to die, which I think is good game design.
There's a lot more that I liked about this game(Rarities, Gear Modifications, Challenges...), but it's probably better to just say that I recommend this game. Even if it may not get updated much, it's still a great game with a lot of mechanics I feel inspired by.

[Old review and old translation below, from Feb 10, 2018:
this uh uhm, good game ya, uh. oh, the dev abandoned it, still good game tho theres no end
( Translation: This is a good game althought the developer abandoned it. The game's still good, however there is no ending. There will probably never be an ending for the game. I actually DO recommend the game though because its legendary fun, but keep in mind that there'll never be updates for it again. ) ]

Quack once, then it's impossible to stop quacking.
Play this game once with a good custom map, never be able to stop playing the game.
10/10 quacks.
