tldr : A massive disappointment get the first game and mod it.
Sadly the game is fully dead I have kept the original review below, I have requested a refund though highly unlikely to receive it, DO NOT BUY, the game is dead, dev team fired, no news by take 2 on who is to take over for months, seems to be a cash grab, sadly take 2 are a publisher with crappy new games but good ips and continue the trend of money grabbing rip KSP
This game launched in a rough state and I glossed it over as its an early access title however now we are near the end of the year and almost 8 months since launch with barely any updates. If I could refund I would. I completely forgot about this game for months and I came back expecting something and instead just small hot fixes no large content updates, nothing after 8 months. I feel bad for the devs as the original trailers showed passion for the title but this game feels worse than the first game. With a plethora of bugs. Hopefully in a year or two it might be worth it but A am not hopeful sadly

Game balancing tied with progressions seems off. The campaign runs on a turn based system essentially after the tutorial you are put onto the map with scenarios you can complete these for money and reputation and if able you will capture enemy vessels etc. Now by the end of the 1st turn I had myself 2 brigs and a 5th rate hermione class not the heaviest frigate not the worst however in the next mission I was placed against 3 Spanish frigates 2 brigs and a sloop and one ship of the line. After playing naval action for far to much time and loving dreadnought I have tried multiple times to fall into this series but each time I would rather just play empire total war with darthmod for my naval age of sail fix or other such games which is a shame as I feel this game could have been great but is just to underdeveloped the combat feels slow, whilst compared to naval action by the same devs the combat at least in the 7th,6th and 5th rate of ships is considerably faster and even in the ships of the line class from 4th to 1st the combat is still more interesting. I just feel this game is under cooked and a disappointment especially with the lack of modding scene to fix these issues. If you want an age of sail game I would suggest empire or Napoleon total war or there free to play MMO naval action, or perhaps the game ahoy which is yet to be released.

Few issues not much content, whilst the servers have good numbers it just feels to unorganised if you try to join a mil sim unit compared the quality you get on arma 3 its just not there bunch of toxic children trying to do milsim. For that aspect if you can I'd recommend arma 3 more variety of communities etc. But besides that its a nice look into what arma 4 may look at but at the very least wait for a sale,

Gatling gun go brrr

First off I got this game whilst it was on sale so that will effect my opinion on it as I got it for around a fiver instead of the full price . Now I have not yet finished the game but I am having great fun no errors just yet although there are some things that I would like mainly bieng able to add declals to the plane and maybe change the camo scheme I would also like it if there were CO-OP and maybe the ability to fly multiple planes maybe a multiplayer mode which is a huge PVP fight over london or somewhere . Though are things that I would like but I do not believe they are in as I have yet to find them .

Overall so far I am having fun for a fiver was not expecting much saw the negative reviews but the mechanic thing sold me sounded a lot of fun, though I do wish it was more in depth but ow well this game gives me a warm feeling like when you are playing a classic games for me such a star wars battlefront 2 classic, bully scholarship edition , skyrim , oblivion , mount and blade, etc . It may not be AAA standard but for the fiver and the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised the combat is fun I don't partically like being able to control with the mouse I would much rather being used to fire and zoom in and using W,A,S,D to move around .
The interior looks amazing though I will say if you are looking for something very realistic this is not for you as on realistic the only thing I ever have to worry about is the engine heat I find aiming good and hard makes dog fights more fun only issue is the AI feels non aggresive and not smart I can just sit on there arse and they will not try to shake me . I wish the kill cam was more than it is, I find it awesome but a bit underwhelming defently something that can be improved on in a sequel if one is ever to be made .
I really the ability to walk around the airbase although I wish it was expanded on further mainly activates maybe football or something and the ability to go out of base into town maybe drink , dance play pool listen to much etc just more side activates to give me more breaks between the dog fighting which is really just a shooting gallery I believe the ai should be made more aggresive .
The models look great again with graphics I m on a meh computer it cant run this on very high but i find everything on law except for view distance and texture details and it runs nice and smoothly and still looks fine .

Overall great start to a game , hopefully we will get sequel or something to expand this they have good ideas just need to inovate more and add more in the next one if one is to be made anyway this review I just realised is far to long and its 2 am . It is nearly dead , the spears are massively overpowered if you do not use a shield , but nfor singleplayer it is good mainly a mod that they got onsparation from i think it was byrtenwalda and this has a lovely unit cap for battke of 750 but my fps on that goes down the toilet xD but yeah multi is pretty much dead and this my tired and bored rant after getting killed by a guy with a spear who i swung before yet his long spear out sped me and if you say thats realistic please go and use a spear and a sword and trust me the sword would be faster and ty

I have 51 hours on this game and i am still on tier 1-2 When i first started i was able to kill half the enemy team , now i get killed by overpowered planes or im just outtiered , NOW WHEN I PLAY A GAME FOR OVER 50 HOURS I EXPECT TO BE GOOD TIER PLANES but no , im stuck with ♥♥♥♥ planes against planes that destroy me with one shot where no matter how many times Hit them , I would like to call this not war thunder but war of gameplay as in my opinion it is full of paywalls such as it taking forever to research somerthing dont wanna wait here pay some in game currency that you have to buy and poof its done . Now thats my rant over Is it Realistic? Yes highly where in realistic battles you have to worry abput fuel ammo your wings as well as having to land and take off in order to resupply you have G forces which again only seems to effect me but anyway My rating when i first started would be a 8/10 As even then i could see the paywalls but now after the 51 hours im sorry and im shure im gonna get shouted at by keyboard warriors but this game gets a 4/10.

A great game i would dare say one of the best of all time , Great gameplay , bad graphic for nowadays but back when it was released these were good graphics etc , i havent played the newest one by EA , which i think will be ♥♥♥♥ unless you get DLC .

If u like PVP this game is for u , i prefer Pve especially with good AI which this has i want Predator mods to be released but i must wait , So i want play until then .

I feel like this Dlc is lazy , The unit cards may look different but since i played it they look the same -_- , They would not look the same , I do find it fun , But toal war is turning into call of duty , i feel like they make little effort In ading new ideas to the mixing boil , @Valegorn ``Don't be fooled by the small minority of people who keep downvoting because each Total War game isn't an exact carbon copy of each other.''
