Every holiday goes by without any acknowledgement. How can someone be so clueless or cruel?
He’s not a narcissist. He’s not aspergers. He just does nothing. On any holiday.
Except on Christmas when he sheepishly says, every year, “ I didn’t get you anything”.

He has no trouble opening his gifts. He always expects to be fawned over on his birthday. Clearly he participates in how this all works.
It’s difficult. People love to ask what you got for Christmas. How do you say “nothing”?

Last year I bought myself a few things. I wrote from me to me on them. He’s going to do it again to me this year. The last three weeks are full of dread.. The kids are old enough to see what’s going on now. I can’t put on a fake smile and do it again this year.
