Realm of the Mad God. ADDICTIVE. AS. ALL. HELL. Be warned, all ye who press the Play button!

Actually, with all seriousness, this game is really fun! I am an old skool gamer, so the pixelated style is right up my alley. The gameplay is also pretty good, with different characters and stats to level up by killing all sorts of beasts, gods, and conquering dungeons--including the one belonging to the Mad God Oryx himself.

There is lots of stuff to do, lots of people to play with and to help defeat your foes. Pets, rare items, dungeon crawling, beastie bashing... did I mention it is really addictive if you are into this sort of thing?

The big downside is the gold can only be purchased with real money, and the dollar to gold exchange rate really sucks (though I shouldn't expect complete fairness in a fantasy world, but still, $5 for 500 or 5,000 gold seems fair to me). There are some people who pay TONS to get the best gear, create the ultimate pet, and basically make themselves a pixelized Master of The Universe (He-Man not included).

With the constant, looming threat of permanent death (when you die, bye bye goes ALL your stuff... EVERYTHING), any money spent on your character will be tossed out the window the minute you fall in battle.

Overall, fun game, but the Pay-To-Win part is kinda lame. Gold exchange rate needs to be a bit fairer, but I doubt that will happen in all honesty.

Sadly, it seems that this game's popularity has dropped off the face of the earth. There are barely any people around any more, and certainly not anyone I recognize (aside from one or two people). Who knows, maybe I am just logging in at the wrong times.

I got this game from a good friend who thought, since it is full of anime cuteness, that it would be my cup of tea---or orange juice, LOL SO FUNNY!!!!twelve

Seriously, the game is very very VERY cute! The characters and sounds and the colors are all sugary sweet and adorable. The gameplay, on the other hand, will take a bite out of you! It's hard! Not hard in a bad way, just hard in that the computer characters will do everything they can to beat the living tar out of you AND everything is pretty much based on a roll of the dice. You can use cards to help you out, and buy upgrades from an in-game shop with the stars you earn while playing Campaign mode or Free mode.

And then, there is the Lobby online mode thing!! I have never had such fun conversing with all sorts of people--many of them new friends!! I'm so glad they added the Chat option to the online games, it makes watching dice flying around, beating up small birds and getting your butt kicked by a demon spawn or a bunny ♥♥♥♥♥ (Poppo and Tomomo) FUN!!

Okay, it makes it MORE fun! Give it a try, and who knows, we might end up playing a game together :D!

Oh, wow, what can I say about this game that has not already been said? The story, the music, the artwork, the combat system combining puzzle solving elements as well as quick reaction timing... I don't know where to start!

The story is much deeper than it first appears on the surface, the characters are all pretty cool--from the Gokon sword weilding heroine Hanabusa, to her foxy companion Komiya and all the gods in between.

The artwork is very simple but surprisingly detailed, much like the paintings created in Japan's past--not quite as epic as Okami's art, but not bad for a still picture RPG!

I love the music, though it may get repetitive for some people, as it tends to loop quite often--especially in the longer battles.

The combat is just as I described it: puzzle solving combined with split second reactions of the player to beat the living tar out of TONS of demon beasties called Tsukumogami and the forces of darkness.

The mythology of ancient Japan, artwork harkening back to the paintings of the time, a really neat combat system equals--to me--a pretty cool game! Give it a try!

One note: SAVE OFTEN! Sometimes, the game crashes in battle, completely freezing up for... I dunno, some reason I don't know of. Usually I can get it functioning by leaving it running for 10-15 minutes and not touching it, but sometimes a restart is necessary.

Why aren't you playing this yet? Seriously? It's like an old skool SNES game... WITH BUNNIES!! LOTS AND LOTS OF BUNNIES!

Seriously, it's fun and there is always something to find and do in your own little world. You can join or invite friends and beat up baddies while crafting awesome stuff AND TotalBiscuit and Jesse Cox play it: WHAT MORE REASON IS NEEDED :D!

An evil entity has enslaved the souls of five of the world's greatest composers, and has overtaken your entire music library! What are you gonna do? SHOOT HIM WITH LAZORS!!!!!

Seriously though, this game is AWESOME!! Very addicting, and it is just so cool!! The boss battles are sometimes rage inducing, but rewarding, plus you get to blow stuff up to your favorite music! What could be better!

...Aside from a Twinkie, yeah yeah yeah, stop thinking about snacks, people >/!!!

I hope there is going to be a sequel someday, that would rock--LOL!! Get it? Rock? Music? No..? Bleh...

The memories... the nostalgia factor... how many quarters did I lose at the arcade playing this beast of a game?!?! Way too many allowances worth (and my brother's allowance as well!). Oops, that's me showing my age!

Ah to heck with it! I was first introduced to it in 1987 when I was 5 years old, and remembering thinking "This looks kinda like the Secret of NIMH o_O!", and little did I know at the time that Don Bluth was behind this awesomeness!

I was never very good at the game, I admit, but I loved playing it! I just had to see how far I could get, just to see what happens next! It's like an interactive movie, and is lots of fun! NEVER AGAIN SHALL A QUARTER BE LOST TO THIS GAME!! ...Though, there will be plenty of FAILs, and LoLs X3! Sorry, Dirk, I still suck after all these years!

You know, I tried to recommend this game before it was even released on Steam... didn't quite work. I had lots of things to say, and it was a pretty good rant... too bad I don't remember it XD! What I do remember is the praise I gave for this epic game: IT FRICKIN' ROCKS!!

It's hard, the ruins want to destroy our hero, Lameza, in every way possible, but the mystery behind everything and the story that starts to come to light... the music... GRRGH!! I can't type in large enough caps to fully express how much I adore this game! It's cruel, it's evil, there is MUCH rage-quitting for me, but I keep coming back. That is how you know that you have a good game, despite it being a total jerk game, I keep returning to the La-Mulana ruins.

The music... oh man, the music..!! Ambient and epic! I'm gonna overuse the word "epic" a lot; EPIC EPIC EPIC!!!

This is NOT for casual gamers by any means of the imagination, the puzzles EAT casual gamers (and hardcore gamers too, with a side of french fries), and the enemies--guardians and the mini-bosses--... well... no one wants Lameza wandering around the ruins! Before I spoil anything more, go play it! Seriously, just go play it! :3!!!

This game is, dare I say, overwhelmingly epic and awesome! I would not have known about it if not for a YouTube Let's Player by the name of DeceasedCrab. Look him up sometime, his playthrough is amazing and helpful! When I am stuck---and mad as hell and not willing to take it anymore (references!)--I use his videos as a guide/walkthrough, because this game takes NO PRISONERS!!

Abandon all hope ye who enter here? Nah! More like Prepare for a whole new level of pain and suffering and EPIC!!!!!

See? I updated this review and I still used the word EPIC far too much!

This game is very different from any RPG that I have ever played, in a very good way! The world is beautiful, the combat system is quite unique, leveling up can be an enjoyable grind, and the narrator has the COOLEST VOICE EVER!! He sounds like a blues or jazz musician, and narrates the journey as you progress. Give this game a try, it is well worth it! Watch out, though, it won't be an easy little casual game, but I think that is what makes it all the better.

The story? Amazing!
The art? Beautiful, eerie, cute and fun!
The music? ZOMG THE MUSIC!!!!!!

I cannot praise this game enough! I absolutely love it! I have played through it so many times, I can practically recite it, but that's just how good I think it is!

It's hard, very often unfair, and... two words: MONSTER X.

Give it a try, it is well worth your time!
