This game is really cute, and gets pretty challenging when you need to find that last cat!

I don't know what praise to give this game that hasn't already been given, so... just give it a try if you are interested!

I will say that, as my first MMO, this game and the community in it are exceptional! Even a total noob like me can get the hang of things, and if you're stuck, there is always someone helpful right around the corner!

This is a game I would like to title Castlevania: The Arcade of OMG WHAT TIME IS IT!?
That's a good thing, it's great!

The art = dark, amazing, detailed and oh so fluid!!
The music = dark, amazing, epic and VERY ATMOSPHERIC!
The story (from what I know of it so far) = DARK AND EPIC! I wish I could read those journals I keep finding!!!!
The gameplay = keyboard is a bit hard for me, but it is doable. I prefer a controller, it just works better for me.
Overall = THIS GAME IS SO FRICKIN DARK AND I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I die A LOT, its like Castlevania meets Ninja Gaiden with a heaping helping of Metroid so its par for the course. Hence, Metroidvania!
Also, mods are fun and the devs love them!
TL;DR: I overuse the words "dark" and "epic". How else to describe this game than the words that perfectly sum it up?

This is a really nice port/reimagining/polishing/SNESifying version of Final Fantasy II, which we didn't get in the USA back in the day when it first came out. I'm sure you all know that story, so I'll skip it.
Aside from the yelping we all heard online when the Pixel Remaster series was released, as an old skool fan, I like this port a lot! The SNES touch is nice, and the audio sounds like its been reworked just a tiny bit. If you ever wanted to play this particular title, consider giving this version a shot!

If you have never played the very first Final Fantasy before, and you are okay with a fresh coat of SNES looking paint, then give this one a try!
The music, the pixely heroes, everything has a SNESish feel to it but smoothed out, which I know some people went NUTS about online when the game first came out. Me personally, not to toot my own horn, I played the early Final Fantasies back in the day (I in the 90s, "II" in the late 90s (later called IV as it was meant to be), III in the early 2000s, II in the mid 2000s, V and VI in the mid 2000s), and this is a pretty good port! Reimagining? Whatever you want to call it!
I LOVE THAT THEY "FIXED" THE OLD BATTLE SYSTEM!! Let me explain. In the original FF, you would have a group of enemies (up to 9 sometimes), and each party member would target one. If the enemy everyone targeted is slain, the party members who were also poised to attack would have their attacks "miss", It forced you to calculate how many hit points an enemy had, how much damage which character will do blah blah blah, I hated it!! This just warps any attack from a defeated enemy onto the next one in line, making all that calculation a thing of the past! LIKE THIS GAME! HAHAHA! ...sorry, I got carried away.

The story seemed cool, I wanted to see what would happen in the next chapters... and then, the game breaking bugs happened.

As of now, the website for this game is some sort of Asian search engine or something.

I waited for a new chapter for this long. I don't think anything beyond this gathering dust on my harddrive is going to happen now.

I first played Newt One at my local gaming convention (2D Con in Minnesota) back in 2017. I was absolutely blown away! The art style, the music, the story, the adorable characters all drew me in and I was instantly hooked!

I played the game far too much that weekend, and the next year too! I became one of the game tester volunteers, and it has been a joy to see how far the game has come from when I had first played it up to this point!

I love this game, it's so fun and relaxing all at the same time! The colors are vibrant and the levels in the game can sometimes be quite challenging, but you are encouraged to take your time and look around. As one of the developers told me, "look around, there is always a solution nearby where you might be stuck.". The controls on the keyboard work great, but it just feels so much nicer on a game pad, in my opinion.

Music is the key, colors light the way, and the journey is so enjoyable!

Seriously, if you would like to play a relaxing, cute, fun game, I think Newt One is an excellent choice!

I waited so long to review this game, shame on me!! Its awesome, fun and adorable! The pixel art, the Final Fantasy-esque battle system (as well as interactions with NPCs and traveling, too!), the references... it makes me smile and laugh a lot!

Cthulu has been stripped of his power and now has to save the world!? WHAT!? He has lots of new friends to help him on his way to reclaiming his lost strength, luckily, but what will happen once his power is restored? Will he be a hero, or return to his watery roots and destroy everything he sees?

...I dunno, I haven't finished playing it yet! But I'll find out, and if you want to find out (and you like old skool RPGs harkening back to the NES days with laughs galore), check it out for yourself!

I will say, without shame, that I am unable to play this game because my gaming laptop breaks when the title screen appears. That is NOT the fault of the game or the developers, I just have a crappy laptop. But, even though I cannot play it, I can still give a small review, right?

I have watched Let's Plays of this on YouTube since 2015 (Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, SausageFingers Gaming's playthroughs specifically), and... well, expect me to use lots of caps for some of the following words. The game itself is GORGEOUS!!!!!! The atmosphere, the lighting, the SOUNDS, THE CREATURES!!!! Scary and mysterious, small and large, both the environments and the creatures that live there as well as the story that slowly comes to light... WOW!!

I don't want to give away anything, play it for yourself or watch any of the great playthroughs on YouTube. Believe me, this is one game that deserves ALL the hype!!
