Early Access Review
Don't listen to the black pillers, this is a fantastic start for NMRiH2. It is early access, so no its not a complete game yet. The very definition of EA is that the game isn't complete and there will be bugs. Anyone complaining about that must have a room temperature IQ. Most AAA games that launch as complete titles have more and worse bugs than this.

The biggest and most awesome change is the new "game mode". Instead of going through the same linear, heavily scripted missions on repeat, you have a large map with randomized objectives as you work your way to the final objective and exfil in the power plant. This adds a ton of replay value that the original lacked. It also adds much more weight to mechanics that are soon to come like infection. In the original, getting infected and shooting yourself didn't have as much weight because you could respawn in a matter of seconds or a couple of minutes at most. It seems the matches will last about an hour so deciding whether to off yourself to avoid hurting the team will be a much more visceral experience.

The current state of the game is exactly average in some areas for an EA release(bug count and severity), and well above average in others(gameplay mechanics, content, and sound design). Overall, a solid launch that serves as some great bones upon which to build the NMRiH2 we've all been waiting for. Buy it if you want to support the devs, or wait until it is further along if you're expecting a finished game.

Don't listen to the review bombers. The game does have a couple of minor problems, but there are fixes and with the rapid patch deployment we have reason to believe those problems will get a proper fix from the devs. Most of these reviews are people who couldn't be bothered to wait a few minutes or people expecting 10 year old hardware to run the newest games on ultra settings at 4K 120+. It's a real shame, too, because a load of thought and care went into this port specifically to please the goblins in here. Most native PC games don't have the level of control of graphics/audio/game settings this does. If you have hardware around 2060S/2070 performance, you should do fine. Enable DLSS/FSR and tune the settings to match your hardware. They even break each setting down by which hardware it impacts and how much it impacts them in more detail than most games.

The only problem I found impacted gameplay at all was the jittery camera movement even while my frame rate was ~120. Set framerate in the game settings to unlimited, but then set a cap in your gpu settings like nvidia control panel. 144 did the trick for me, but this will vary based on your monitor and personal preference. I also reduced default sensitivity in game for camera and aiming to a comfortable level for me, which is still very responsive at around half the default values, but this will also vary based on your mouse and preferences. It seems to have helped with the jittery camera as well.

TL;DR: Despite being new to PC development, they provided exactly what PC gamers like, and did so better than most native PC games. They even learned from Callisto Protocol's mistake of not preloading shaders. Nothing can please the goblins, however, and they review bombed the game despite a clearly sincere and fine effort from the devs. I very much hope they did not impact things enough to dissuade Naughty Dog from future PC endeavors.

This is the best VR release in a long time. It's so good that it has me excited for VR again. These are the exact sort of devs VR needs if it is going to break into regularly having real games released instead of tech demos claiming they are games.

The style and theme give a strong feeling of Dark Souls, Zelda, and a few other games I'm sure provided some inspiration. I don't often get stopped in my tracks by music in any game, much less VR titles where sound design is normally an afterthought, but I did here. The music and overall sound design are amazing. The level of quality and design of gameplay mechanics is fantastic as well. The gunplay, magic, weapon mods, tarot cards, etc. all come together as one cohesive experience. I can think of many more things to praise this game for, but writing this has taken me away from the game for too long. Buy this game and support these devs!

I came into this game with an enormous amount of goodwill for FatShark, as I put about 400 hours into VT1 and 2 and remain a large fan. They threw it in the garbage for this one though. It would be generous to even call this a beta, yet no early access tag and they want $40. There are only 2 aspects to the game that work well. The moment to moment combat and the micro transaction shop. Everything else is buggy as hell or literally a coming soon tag(Some of which were promised by the end of december. It's the end of January and they MIGHT have a hotfix for us next week). Exactly what brand new early access games are like, minus the shameless money grubbing. When I learned Tencent was their new majority shareholder, I said they would still do right by us. I was dead wrong. Every aspect of gameplay reeks of Tencent. It is rather fitting that Nurgle cultists are the only enemy faction at launch, as this game and FatShark have become a bloated, rotting boil on the ass of their most loyal fans.

10/10

I have sunk almost exactly 1 year of my life into this game over the past 8 years or so. I should probably be sad about that but the game is so good I'm aiming for 2!

This is by far the smoothest, most comprehensive and convenient D&D app I've ever used. And its free! They don't even want a monthly subscription like other apps out there that don't work half as well as this app that's completely free. Not only is it more convenient to transition between different aspects of character management, this app offers more than any I've yet seen.

One of my favorite features is the counters section. Barbarian in need of tracking rages? Sorcerer with a load of sorcery points? Counters works perfectly and is more convenient than erasing little dots on your character sheet. I also love the dice calculator. It's simple like many of the best ones out there only it's more detailed than them. If you roll more than one die at a time and wish to use empowered spell to reroll some of the dice individually, dice calculators are out of the question. The calculator contained within this app again has you covered! It shows each individual die roll underneath the large combined roll of all dice.

Another thing I love is how easy inventory management is. My party tends to ignore the weight system unless a player wants to carry ridiculously heavy things with them. But with this app, you can get the fun of inventory management without the tedium that comes with manually keeping track of every tiny item in your inventory.

TL;DR - Download this app! It has more features and all of them are more convenient than any d&d app out there. AND DID I MENTION IT'S COMPLETELY FREE?!?!

Full disclosure, I am affiliated with the developer in that I created the trailer for the app and got early access to it, but I only did so because I fell in love with the app and wanted to help out so the rest of my party could start using it sooner.
