Armoured Souls is a game about MECHS, and MONEY!

While the majority of the game has you smashing weaker drone enemies that pose no threat or needing to destroy "Boss" enemies. I found these parts of the game to be BORING, and poorly designed if compared to other Fromsoftware games.

however the real highlight is the mini bosses or rival AC's pilots you fight. which feel way better to fight against since they seem like worthy opponents, which can't be said for the thousands of minion drones or the 3 bosses in the game that don't act like drones.

that being said, I finished the campaign in a day and a half, and completed the AI Arena to S Rank, my only real complaint is that there is only 30 arena fights. welp. off to multiplayer I guess.

Early Access Review
It is hard to talk about this game without talking about the original "NEMESIS" board game, not "NEMESIS LOCKDOWN" the board game, the OG version. The one i'm sure most people who knew about Nemesis before this game released would be familiar with.

NEMESIS LOCKDOWN is an inferior version of the OG NEMESIS, in many respects.

Is this game worth buying if your new?

No, and probably will not ever be, since the original game is much better to get started with.

Is this game worth buying if your experienced with the OG?

Maybe... buy if you really only want to experience what playing Nemesis with difficulty dialed up to 11 is like. Seriously, this version of the game is like throwing yourself over a cliff blindly and hoping that you arn't immediately impaled by jagged rocks, but good news! Sometimes you might fall into a bed of water, surviving your deadly decent... However the water was contaminated with radioactive run off and you died anyway 1 week later.

That analogy might not make sense to you if you haven't played the game. However for those of you reading reviews trying to figure out why this game feels awful to play, here's why... "CONTINGENCIES"

GOD WHY! PLEASE for the love of god, allow us to remove this mechanic from the game, basically contingencies represent the in universe corporations making a decision about what to do with the Survivors after the game ends, which guess what, usually is just to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill them. so you sweat your nuts off for an hour making countless tough choices, and surviving endless close calls, for the game to tell you at the end, you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lost... lol. Because when faced with the unrelenting pressure of simply trying to avoid deaths grasp at the hands of the intruders you made the decision to leave ASAP after completing your quest... all of that tension, the guilt of leaving your comrades behind... Tehe, you still lost dumbass, because there was a hidden card that said so. Its a terrible design choice that doesn't need to be in the game moving on, thanks.

Balance is a massive concern in Nemesis lockdown for me personally, mostly in the form of class's.

Since the games rules come from an actual physical copy of a board game, I don't foresee them changing rules to give a better gameplay experience even if we cry and complain, the rules are written in stone.

I don't care about RNG, because it can be fun if done right, however in an attempt to add and expand the mechanics of the game, since LOCKDOWN is a sort of sequal to the OG, they have gone way too far basically removing your ability to outplay the system, in order to you know... Not die, and like survive and ♥♥♥♥. Even if everyone works together the game will still claim you lost... thrilling.

However, lets talk about player power, a concept that can be hard to account for in any game. In Nemesis lockdown, the developers have decided to severely cripple your player power. there are far too many factors that have been added in this version of the game to deliver decisive ends to your life or your teams run. originally you could account for the games shenanigans by grouping with your team, and fighting together. Now guess what, half the classes don't even have guns, and you all start in different corners of the map. Meaning working together is sometimes actually worthless... meaning some players can't pull their own weight. 3 out of the 6 classes don't have a firearm and of the 3 only 1 (The Sentry) even technically has a gun. In the OG, everyone started together, and everyone had a gun?? so everyone was worth having around if things got crazy. Now... your player power has been taken from like "S Tier" in the OG, to like a "D Tier" overall. this metric will just represent the classes overall performance, its simply a subjective way to measure class power/player power.

In the original game everyone had a gun, so legit "S" Tier crew members, now half the classes are pathetic, and the guns we do have are effected by a new mechanic they have graced us with called darkness. Now darkness wont effect you all the time, just 90% of the time, and while you are effected by darkness, you will miss near every shot. so let me get this straight... you take away 50% of our crews fire power... then you take away 50% of those weapons accuracy... then when you actually do kill an alien to get your intruder carcass for your quest... you can get the PANIC event...

AH YES! the infamous Event known as "Panic" ♥♥♥♥ me dead, their interpretation of this rule, is straight up game breaking. instead of dropping your item on the ground, it is dropped and destroyed??? even if its an item that can be placed on the ground undamaged??? like an intruder carcass? you know? the one you needed to finish your quest in some situations? please fix this... its a bad representation of what the rule means.

So here we have a game that is looking to ream your ass with every possible cheap trick event and convoluted "NEW" mechanic in the book while providing you with zero mercy or protection, all while you drag your mangled slime covered body over glass to the end zone desperately trying to survive the ordeal, simply for the Corpos to turn around at the end game to say "Oh you don't have the right" and falcon punch you back into the Alien nest due to a hidden CONTINGENCIES stipulation in your workers contract...

Nemesis LOCKDOWN represents a poor and unnecessary sequel to an otherwise fantastic first edition of a great survival COOP game... and I can't wait to play more :')

TLDR: They digitally remade the wrong version of Nemesis.

"Tencent takes minority stake in Warhammer: Vermintide developer Fatshark, Reports suggest it's a 36% stake in the Swedish firm."

"Tencent is known for investing in market leading top rated companies. With the investment, Fatshark is in a strong position to continue to grow while staying independent. Our unaltered mission will be to bring high quality games to our fans around the globe." - Christopher Dring (Wednesday 9th January 2019)

Won't be impressing your new friends here FS if we all think your product is garbage.

I don't have a list of demands or helpful insight. The community has been more then active in voicing damn good ideas.

2.0.x.x has been a mess. along with WoM

I know you guys have "made changes" and "listened" to feedback. You think its because "change is hard to adjust to" and that the game is "challenging" now with "team work" been the focus.

The DLC is broken with new bugs and constant crashing, painfully slow combat along with the players who are even more toxic then when I made a review a year ago because there is class and weapon meta focus. Why is there now a strict class, weapon and play style Meta in quick play? This meta wasn't needed before, but now with the changes in "challenge" viable play styles and skill builds have been washed out in favour of control builds and shove(l) knights with stamina builds.

I don't know how TF you expect legend quick play or weave matchmaking to work when 80% of the time, 4 randoms meet up and straight away disconnect after a 2 minute wipe and they point fingers as to what is meta and what classes and weapons "work" in the meta in order to survive. Like "Get Gud" will be thrown around until people find out the game has changed for the worse. The other 20% of the time in legend quick play it goes something like this, we stand shoulder to shoulder periodically pressing a combination of left click right click and "W" for 30-60 minutes taking 10 steps and getting rushed by the same spam ambushes over and over again only this time the devs always spawn a single mob right behind you to keep your camera swinging around from start to end, this is not what I bought and its really not even the same game I liked playing originally, and it's brain dead game play. It's not skill and it's not challenge, its a slow grindy lesson in meta spamming IB and Merc with even less room to express a unique build, it's a co-op hack and slash not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Esport. Ironically in an attempt to make the game more team orientated you have just made it more hostile to take those first steps to work together.

No dedicated servers? Over powered new faction? 1 new map? The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3 month leader board reset of weaves? Even if i'm the host people still can't play with me in WoM????? slave rats one tap on high weaves? You guys are hopeless. maybe move on and make an MMO next time, instead of morphing this IP to a live service ♥♥♥♥ show.

TLDR: If you do get this and want to play Legend, make sure to uncheck from your DLC list as the beastmen make playing legend unfun and try and get friends (who all need to buy this separately) to play the weaves with.

1: Love warhammer?

2: Love Total War?

3: Love racial discrimination and the feeling of been the hand behind countless war crimes and hate fuelled atrocities that would make imperial japan blush.

4: Love making mortal enemies because of the utterly monstrous and psychotic way you cold bloodily murder, defile and torture the innocent inhabitants of the world.

5: Magic is also a thing in this game! :D

So now that I have played this game for a tad longer, I feel like some good boy points need to be given out here. I'd like to give thanks to the devs that made this game, even as a consumer I feel like this game was made for DnD nerds such as myself and while there are many games that take inspiration from the D20 system none have really managed to pull it off in such a gold class way as done here.

Wizcoast has given these guys the chance to make the next balders gate game probably in a large part due to this games creation.

I hope that the team can continue to make RPG games in this vein, well because you can tell they care about creating quality products for fans first.

It can be really hard to find the gems on steam in this dark age of 2019.

The game is a wonderful and a worthy sequel to the first, which I felt the first was pretty okay but i never managed to finish it. In this game you can tell the devs really went all out, basically the game has been upgraded in just about every way. We can now play as more then just humans or pick more then the original 6 classes which really 2 of them were pretty much the same, and now we can fight way more enemy types that still keep that complex combat assessment of how to exploit a creatures weakness. The amount of content over all has just about been increased 5 times over. You can rest with a portable sleeping bag to get health back, which seems like a silly thing to say is a good thing, but if you played the first game, yea.

I don't really know what to tell someone in order to get a copy in their hands.

DnD is basically the foundation of combat and character progression however there is no spell charges or long rest mechanics its mostly gear and spell cooldowns and a hit miss system that rolls D20 probabilities in the background. Even if you want to use a sword, you won't get far unless you use your spell skills in conjunction, not to say melee is useless but you need to buff with spells for example, its almost like a turn based MMO in a way, certain builds have great Synergy, drenching an enemy in rain and having another party member striking them with a lightning spell will cause more damage and have a higher chance to stun them. Much of the game is creating a party that has the most devastating combo to win the game, half the fun is figuring out how it all works, and the best way to cheese.

The game is hard, even on the normal difficulty. However you can save scum, which i use.

with down right inspired locations over the course of about 4 "Acts" or "Islands" that last 10 to 15 hours per "Act" you should get about 50 hours here, not including everything.

Art and graphics here are great, honestly some of the cleanest visuals of any game iv played. The characters and location art isn't realistic or overly detailed but it feels consistently nice to look at, they have come a long way since the first.

Eye watering and adrenaline pumping sound tracks that hit all the right notes, i'd suggest just looking up the games main theme. seriously that song alone is just so damn relaxing, the swells and full range of sounds is just a producers envy.

The story is a nice contrast on the first game, the relationships with other characters are pretty interesting, the romance is a little "check box" feeling, however the moments before and after that cringe fest are great. Characters in your party have their own motivations to be along for the journey and have unique feelings on other members you bring, so there is replay value here since their are different combinations of adventures who may mingle differently or not play nice with others, there is a reason for this and it works here. You can't switch the "Origin" characters past the first act, Origin characters are the only ones with written and voiced story lines through the story to which there is about 6 of them, you are stuck with who you take past that point for the rest of the game and this helps to give that rocky relationship angle that all DnD games have, I found this more intriguing on my first play through. Doing one thing to please a person in your party might upset another and have a knock on effect with how they see you if you talk to them again.

Iv never experienced any major consequences of been way too bias towards a party members wishes since I play "lone wolf" now. "Lone Wolf" is basically a optional perk you can take in the character creation screen at the start of the game which means you only have 2 party members instead of 4, this basically means that fights are harder, there is less inventory managing and your characters will ultimately be stronger as individuals since you get better level scaling to make this play style possible. Ultimately for me its to avoid the issues a full party will have with each other, you might like it at first like i did, but i feel like there are situations that you can't please everyone and while that is pretty realistic it makes me feel bad.

I don't really think this game has any negatives,
it achieves pretty flawlessly what it wanted to do.

Like I said, didn't much care for the romance parts,
I do think that could be worked on, I feel like both characters
should build up the feelings slower with more expression,
it happens pretty suddenly. It's not because i'm some brute
who just wants to crack skulls, I feel like i'd be totally down
to work a little harder to get a happy ending.
I will say that some characters are harder to romance so i guess
that would mean you are working harder, its not worth chasing the
dragon :)

Pretty Disapointing there is no Synth Ships :/

Pros? Better then Bio hive mined IMO, also those new Situation advisor voices are nice.

Its like 5/10 DLC I guess, its pretty average.

If there was new ship models and flags it would be like 8/10

If there was a choice of a custom Synth homeworld on top of that it would be a 9/10

If there was a custom mega structure, new Crises, new Levathian and Custom Synth ships it would be a 10/10

Would i recommend for $10?

Nar, there are plenty of mods that make Synths playable and gives them custom ships. This feels like it should be half its asking price or even in the game to begin with,

(Like most of the DLC this game has made)

dont get me wrong this is far better then Utopia in terms of bang for buck ill give it that. The fan service is great i will also be thinking of that.

I guess at the end of the day this is for the fans and i shouldnt ♥♥♥♥♥ about it because its paradox fleshing out their game. sure, but they could of done it with more style.
