A City Builder that actually stresses me out. 10/10

This game would be fantastic as a SP only game, but somehow they got a stable 4 player coop career mode added in. Mods can increase that to 32 players, this game good.

Buy the game for over the top fun with friends. Stay for the wacky array of weapons, vehicles and support tools. Purchase the missions packs to torture yourself and your friends. Never buy the weapons DLC's as they don't provide any sort of benefit. And LOVE the game for the absolutely stellar voice acting and fanatical patriotism your comrades display while being tossed around like a chew toy!

For a game released on steam only 3 months ago it's well put together and definitely worth the 20$ asking price. It is an auto battler, so don't expect real time strategy and tactics aside from positioning units on the battlefield and using a dizzying list of spells. The hero's you pick can also vary your playstyle, with unique artefacts, buildings and equipment that drastically change your starting experience keeping the game fresh on the same maps which are also randomly generated.

It also has a steam workshop page that's developing, with a comprehensive guide on how to add your own mods and sprites.

A few downsides though, I wouldn't recommend higher difficulties for newbie players. Start at normal or easy even, get the hang of the game and the system, cause the harder difficulties follow Total War logic, giving the AI a boost in their economy, resulting in them fielding mass armies at hardcore while you only have a single hero.

Another issue is the start of game. You wanna focus levelling a single hero as neutral armies can be pretty powerful to face. Resulting in a single overpowered army that can curb stomp anything in its path. With other hero's being delegated to collecting resources or basic chaff defence. This isn't too bad but it enforces a dominant strategy that goes against its replayablity.

All in all I can recommend this game for what it is, a beautifully designed homage to Hero's of Might and Magic. Def deserves a spot in your library.

The game is getting betterish with the new update, alot of the game breaking bugs are fixed. I feel like I can give this game a positive review now and praise the game for what it's getting right rather than what it got wrong at release.

I hope Immortal Empires kicks ass.

Fast paced and challenging, even as a nooblet playing on medium difficulty I got my ass handed to me by the roaming NPC's that start on the map. A few more rounds however had me pick up a few tactics (such as using the games transports to clown car infantry so they heal while in combat) that made the game loads easier to handle. You'll be trying to find a balance between each factions resource output to give the perfect balance between unit production, research and maintenance costs, focusing too hard on a single output can really kill you if you're inexperienced.

I wish the game didn't cost so much, I got the game for free with humble monthly but the game still comes with 40$+ of DLC which really turned me off of the game for a while, however each faction is lovingly crafted from the ground up to be different from each other, so buying a faction can be a worthwhile investment. The music is something else and you'll notice it right when you boot up the menu, there are no breaks and no calm tracks, from start to finish you are in a war of attrition and the music highlights that.

Also I was sad when I realised none of the units had voice acting, buuuut some madlad on the steam workshop is building a unit voice pack for each and every unit using proper paid voice actors instead of cut clips from Dawn of War or something like that, it's really good and required for loving some of your units. All in all this game is really a love letter to the 40k franchise and worth the spot in your digital library.

Turn low life peasants into 300 IQ murder hobo's. Build a colony, watch it get stomped into the dirt, build toughness, watch as you slowly start winning fights. Go on the offensive. Find Ancient Tech. Win at life.
