Yes, this is now one of them grindy games. Yes, the game doesn't always tell you what to do. Yes. you may need to start looking for other players to do some of the larger content like raids, Ordeals, and maybe Gambit and Crucible if you want to delve into the PvP and rise through the ranks easily. Yes, the PvP can be busted at times.

BUT

Bungie has a knack for creating a marvelous world that is always a spectacle to watch. Worlds that feel alive and look as alien as we feel the word alien should be. You will believe you are in another planet each time you look up at the skybox. And yes, I did say that the gamey stuff had some issues, but even in the game aspects, there will be hooks that bring you in. There are mysteries to naturally unravel, lore to feel yourself apart of, unique weapons to get a feel for, mechanics that change how you enter combat that differ from just "which gun do I shoot" to "which grenade good". Have faith, people. This game is in for the long haul, and if you understand that and just dig your feet in, or even just come back to this game from time to time as a side thing, you'll find yourself being sucked in. Gradually, slowly, or even instantly, it will happen. Just, be careful if you already have a grindy game already (like Warframe, or Dead by Daylight, or even Borderlands). Don't be bogged down by all the content these games have by taking on a whole bunch of them at once.
