I really want to like this game, I'm dying for a pvp melee vr game. Its a great idea but for me the execution of the games mechanics is just awful. only 1 player may attack at once using energy. to get energy you sit and wait for a ludicrously long time or you can charge up energy by making your remaining hp vulnerable. In short less hp. less attacks. 0 room for comebacks. I played 2 online games won 1 lost another both closely this issue is just via logic not me being salty about getting dumped. This is just a joke and removes the action from an action game. Alongside this whenever you attack an enemy or block an attack your weapon shatters until you move it behind your back. This is to prevent players from making small sharp attacks that would be cheesy. this doesn't even work as you can make short quick stabs as the rapier guy extremely easily and from another review you can see this i just ridiculous. however why in all hell does your weapon shatter when you block your'e forced to swing your arms in ludicrous positions just trying to make your weapon re-form so you can block the next attack. The attacker then always has the advantage because they will be mid swing and already have their weapon behind their back before you have a chance to recover and block the next. This means its only humanly possible (except with many hours of training and predictions) to block every other attack. oh and by the way its in slow-motion. for some reason instead of adding proper physics they just slowed down how fast your weapon can move. If this game was claiming to be an arcade just for the ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles game id recommend it because its funny. However its trying to be a competitive 1v1 combat game and falls incredibly short. for me its an easy refund id rather spend the £15 on coffee.

Boneworks is a Physics based game (incase you didnt already know xD). that is mainly to experiment with what is possible with physics based puzzles in VR. with an added story and combat thrown in to make it interesting. It is obvious that the majority of effort was put into the physics and puzzles. This is a great thing. Boneworks is the first full physics VR game of many of its kind. I believe it will be a benchmark for future VR games and be remembered for years to come. nothing has done what this game has. Ignore the neg reviews. a large majority of them have very few hours sometimes less than 1, which isnt enough to get past the tutorial area xD I understand i also have few hours but i am into the main game and can see what has been accomplished. Shout out to the creators, keep pushing the limits.

well, 1st off i'm slightly biased being a fromsoft fan but my take on the game is the same overall.
1st section: general game review:
Music, 8/10 takes from Traditional Japanese instruments fitting the scene of the game well. The music also fits the kind of scenario you are in changing depending on setting and combat, and each boss has a well designed tense track as well. Falls off slightly as a lot of the time it is unnoticable where you are concentrating on something else.
Gameplay/Mechanics: 10/10, stealth is well done making you feel like a true Shinobi and level design takes into account that you may want to sneak through. Combat is where the game shines its best, despite only having 1 weapon the variety of moves and ways to use it completely counteract that "flaw" Prosthetics all have 1 situation they are best for but can be used in a variety of ways if you use your wits.
Story, 7/10 interesting but only falls off as it is a little cliche and struggles to make you care unless you really want to.
Progression, 8/10: Prosthetics you prefer can be upgraded to make them more powerful and add an extra move but unfortunately doesn't change the way you can use them apart from a few exceptions. The skill Trees are amazing they change your tactics for certain fights and allow you to mix up your play style to how you prefer i don't know how some say it forces you to play a certain way its kinda ridiculous. plus the ninjutsu you unlock later can massively impact how you fight if you use them correctly.

Theme, (semi-spoiler alert (not a direct explanation of the ending but a reference to it so skip this if you don't want that)
I've been looking through some of the negative comments of the game to see what people find wrong with Sekiro and i find one major theme. "its not rewarding" this refers to how you don't tend to find a lot of useful items which i kind of agree with but the items are useful if you use them you just don't feel overly inclined to. But this is the point of Sekiro whom you play as, you are a shinobi with 1 task, protect your master. is there anything that sekiro as the character gets out of this? no he gets no reward. He performs his only task for the result of nothing. he struggles on and on and on for no personal gain. This game makes you feel as sekiro does, notice how when "your brow is furrowed just a little less than before" and yours will be too. the game constantly references the characters glum face. to which i say notice yours, it will look the same, the combat is fun, enough reason to play in my opinion, but like the rest of fromsoft's games it is fustrating at times. The reason this game is a 9/10 overall is because the game doesn't make you feel for your character, it makes you feel as the character. When you kill a relative you feel nothing, listen to the words he says and neither does he. you are a shinobi trained not to feel, but yet you still feel the harsh burden of the task ahead of you, the will to carry on with no reward. those who quit are those who break the iron code. and if you want your reward, get the best ending look up how if you have to, and then. you will truly smile.

Main Explanation: (skip to bottom for quick overview)
I picked up this game 1) because i saw it in a video stating its origniality. and 2) because I've had my eye on it for a little while. personally i liked this game you may see that i only have 7 hours when the game costs £15 i did finish the campaign but i didnt complete all the secrets ect. I liked hyper light drifter, quite a lot actually. it requires you to thikn about the story, not a huge huge huge amount but enough to where the story isnt simply handed to you on a silver platter. As for the story it can be a little bit different for everyone because you may infer certain events in different ways. I quite like this aspect of the game because if you have a friend that has also played the game i can garuntee you will end up talking to them about what they think happened, which can lead to an interesting discussion. The gameplay is smooth, espectially the combat which i have to admit is one of the best systems I've seen in a while, making it as equally satisfying as it is challenging. while the game isn't overly difficult you will die, and you will have to try again at some point. Boss battles are especially good in hyper light drifter as they ramp in difficulty as the game goes on and not just in the cheap "more health, more damage" cheap difficulty. Things get harder to dodge and move sets get less predictible, you will feel an acomplishment when you down the next one you find. In terms of progression, HLD has a LOT of secrets almost too many infact which would be one of my complaints... if they werent so easy to find most of them. There is a special symbol that appears wherever a secret is to be found, making them rather easy to locate once you get an eye for it. Obviously, you won't see all of them and you will find yourself backtracking to find something a few times while playing. This can be fustrating if you have gone through the same area a couple times and still cant find what your looking for. But if you pull through eventually finding it can feel amazing. Unlockables are a big thing in HLD including weapon upgrads, costumes and firearms. I won't go over all of them as there are too many but there are quite a few for you to find. This adds a lot of depth to the game and finding a hidden costume or gun can help you out a lot in the longrun depending on how it fits your playstyle. The music in HDL is also very good and fits with the game perfectly creating an ominous, mysterious tone, because of this i would also recommend the soundtrack for the game.

In the short:

Pros:
Combat- extremely fluent and fast paced, enough to keep you quick on your feet.
Story- while not obvious it does get you thinking and it portrays it in an original way.
Progression- it always feels like your getting somewhere in HDL as you always discover things you missed.
Music- fits great with the game and helps to immerse you.

Cons:
Almost too many secrets- towards the end finding a secret feels a lot less like an achievement and more so like a task.
Backtracking- this isnt necessarily a bad thing, it can just be a little fustrating when you have been through the same area more than 3 times and still cant find what your looking for.

Conclusion:
HDL is an interesting, fun take on an RPG adventure game with a story and soundtrack to fit it well.
Overall: 11.5/13

Dark souls didn't teach me it was hard, it taught me how to persevere. this game beat me to a bloody pulp showed me a glimpse of its all empowering awesomeness and locked it in a chest with five locks. To describe the difficulty the only way to open that chest of greatness is to break the locks with your flacid penis. T his game is epic but dear god make sure you have a controller.

i am going to keep this review plain and simple

all i have to say about dust is
THIS IS THE BEST F***ING GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED (and i have a lot of games)

Explanation:

My favourite part of this game was everything
the story is intruiging and the best i have ever seen with beautiful design and animation solid character development you will not want to stop playing once you've started the combat is absolutly fantastic and flows fluently and has a combination of being swift and using speed and devestating attacks to destroy your foes the boss fights are intriging and they aren't just any old person who you just so happen to have to kill they all have thier own personalitys (apart from the boss at the very beginning) they interact and talk to your character before they meet thier demise or survive the ending for this game is exeptionall and watch the bloody credits there is another scene (thats all you get when it comes to spoilers) the game is a great price and is more than worth the money i would severe my legs for a sequal but im not sure that will ever happen.

conclusion:

buy this game
