Really fun game with mods that add tons more content. There is even a mod that lets you be able to play with friends. Easily added 100+ hours with that alone.

With over 440 hours on this game, I believe it is time to make a proper review of this game! Playing since its Open Beta 37, the game has changed handfold. With a great community and amazing devs, Hi-Rez seems to do their best to here what the community wants. One issue I had with the game came about a reason patch- OB44. Do not be discouraged to play based off other reviews due to the patch! The developers have done their best so far to go hand and hand with what the community wants and has really improved the current state of the game. Improving new player experience by providing essential handouts in currencies, Paladins has never been more fun. Having a multitude of options for customization in champions design and play style, there is something out there for everyone! I will continue to invest time on this amazing game and I hope that you too will give it a chance like I did! See you in the realm!

I will now break the game down into different components.

Free to Play: This game has remained free to play throughout the time I have played. While the game took an interesting turn with the addition of essence, a third currency that is used to create cards and legendaries, I am still surprised with how Hi-Rez has handled the feedback from its community. While essence in the beginning was a **** show for incoming and current players, recent hotfixes have fixed the issue to a point where you can obtain what you want and what you need. Achievements, chests, champion mastery and much more are only some of the many ways to obtain this currency. They even hinted at the addition of disenchanting cards in order to have essence when needed. In order to get coins, the currency used to purchase champions or chests, you just have to play the game! Each day you log in you get a bonus which consists of coins and day 6 and 7 crystals too. Crystals are used for skins in the game and other neat chests. Further, you obtain coins at the end of everygame. Finally, you may also obtained coins from your 3 first wins of the day which total to over 1300 coins a day (3 wins per day). With the additions the game has every patch, it seems more friendly to those who can't afford to pay for games. You do not need to spend money in order to be successful in this game.

Diversity in Playstyle: This game seems to have something for every playstyle you can imagine. You have a turrent placing dwarf who mans the frontline while also having the chance to play the winter witch known as Evie to kill the backline on her flying staff! Every corner you look you may see something you can get into. Blasters and Hitscans alike, there is a multitude of ways to play each champion. Within each champ, you have a loadout system. This loadout system allows you to take 5 cards of your choice available to the champion to customize your playstyle. The addition of champion legendary's has improved the diversity eightfold. The card system allows you to counter your opponents. Have 4 cards in each category, Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow, you can go anyway you want. If you see a frontline, you can choose wrecker to deal more damage to shields. You may choose haven to take less damage or veteran to heal more out of combat. This system allows you to play different from anyone else on your team.

Community: The Paladins community is on that I am proud to be apart of. With patches going out at least twice a month, we see many issues being resolved due to the support from the developers and other employees at Hi-Rez. While patch previews are always nice, it's on every social site including forums that our voices are heard. With the implimentation of the new currency, there was a vast majority of community feedback. It didn't even take a week for Hi-Rez to respond and actually add in fixations to alleviate the feel of such a hard grind. This was done through decreasing costs of legendarys and increasing the amount of essence you may obtain. As for the play base, you will meet lots of interesting people. While every community has your salty players, the majority of players that I have met are nice and welcoming.

Gamemodes: Paladins currently has 4 casual gamemode, a competitive mode, and training area. The 4 casual modes are: Siege, Payload, PVE, and Survival. Lets break each of these gamemodes down. Siege is a gamemode where you capture an objective in the middle of the map and attempt to push it to the enemies capture area. The score of this goes to whoever hits four points first. Payload is similar to siege. In this gamemode, you either start on offense or defense. You then have a certain period of time to either defend or push if you are on offense. The sides then switch at the end of the timer and those who defended must now push past the point to where the other team had gotten in the time they achieved it in. PVE is the next gamemode which is often renamed to the name of theme. This week was 5 Skye's, a flank champion that goes in stealth, named Hide N Seek. This gamemode switches often and consists of a fun player vs. entity type play. The final and newest gamemode in the casual setting is Survival. Survival is a gamemode that goes to 5 points, with each round counting as either a win or loss. The idea of this mode is to kill off every other enemey member on the team. They do not respawn during the round. Note that each team has 5 members. This in my opinion is the fastest gamemode. The Competitive mode is one where you can really show your skill. Competitive is also where you can place on leaderboards and achieve a champion border. While the system may not be in its prime, I must say it is fun. With in this mode, you have a 5v5 siege type play. The next set of gamemodes is the training grounds. This is where you will play for your first five levels of play. The training grounds is where you can play against bots to familiarize yourself with champions, maps, cards, and even gamemodes. This mode has siege, paylod, survival, training where you play against stationary bots (Only you are in the little map) and the tutorial. The tutorial provides basic knowledge to those enetering into the game. To wrap up this section, it is key to note that the time to recieve a match varies for each play, you aren't garaunteed 10 second queues every day. It's estimated time is 2 minutes to 5 minutes depending on the gamemode.

This wraps up my review! I will add information as I feel needed to adress the game as it evolves.
