A super fun base building game. There's a lot of potential here. Growing your base while customizing and optimizing rooms and employees. This plays very similarly to an evil genius game and I've been really enjoying it.
Overall I definitely recommend trying the game but there are definitely frustrations that are easily fixable. many of the negative reviews I see now complain of bugs or balancing, 90% have been updated and fixed imo. I've had zero bugs or crashes in my playtime.

There is also the minion payment system of having to set up a ton of banker doors to the treasury and hope your minions get to a window before they straight up quit. Visually it looks like the DMV from hell and its overall a mechanic that sounds interesting but only leads to frustration or at the very least looking ugly in your base. There needs to be a way added to streamline payments, maybe doors that are faster/help more minions at once? Please just something.

My last gripe is being unable to tell how balanced the minions are. When it comes to workload, you hire cooking, cleaning, banking, etc but its a guessing game of just waiting and watching to understand if you've got a right amount of minions. Which with the cleaning I can never truly tell if I'm actually at a good balance. Levels are confusing as well. Like does a level 10 domestic do just as well as a level 1? Should I even bother paying all that extra salary? Do the different types of guards mean anything other than origin? Is the only real way to train minions other than guards just raids? I wish there was more questions answered in game. Like a lessons page that goes into origins with subsections that explain the needs and expectations of each origin. Or each job, what it does, and what the levels mean. Like guards obviously would do more damage but would cooks make meals faster or domestics clean faster? idk.

Overall I genuinely enjoy the game and I've been having fun trying to figure things out.

Early Access Review
The cutest settlement-builder I've ever played! I'm in love with the art style, and the visual quality of this game is astounding. The way they've designed buildings, the roads, and decorations makes this game so easy to create beautiful towns.
I'm also absolutely in love with the 'Witches Curse' random event, the skeleton models and the music are my favorite thing ever, I wish I could keep them on by default. More events that visually influence your town would be so amazing, I've never seen that before.
I'm really excited to see the development of this game continue, I can't wait to see what comes next!

mmm sheepy cult- love it!

Amazing visual style, soundtrack, content, vibes- all of it. I loved the story and the art (cute and creepy is an amazing combo)
It was my first dungeon crawler so it was hard at first to learn, but its not bad to pick up at all. The management aspect of the cult is so creative and something I'd never thought would be combined together- its perfect.

Best 5$ I've ever spent! 8/10

*8/10 just cause I purely wish I had payed more so I could get more- I enjoyed every second and was disappointed reaching the end.

In about 6 hours I managed to finish the story and to get all the achievements. Best 6 hours of game play I've experienced in a while! When I saw the store page and learned about the game it all seemed too good to be true. A beautiful game with an interesting story with for only 5 bucks? Its definitely a steal! I love the art, quality animations, classic vibe of Sweeney Todd, Its overall great.

Pros:
* Pretty graphics and tons of detail in the map
* very well done animations
* engaging gameplay
* interesting story

Cons:
* obviously its fairly short (ab 28 in game days from my experience + a few for achievements)
* ran out of things to upgrade fairly quickly and it left me wanting so much more.
* I feel like the tailor front was the most basic feature. It was pretty flat. It didnt really feel like a shop like the pub, just a front for bodies (which is true) but I kept forgetting its an actual shop that makes money too because it was so minor. Until the garden is added I feel like you don't use his character much. I tend to leave him alone for the entirety of the pre-open phase cause there's just so much more fleshed out things to do with the wife.

* I will say I did mute voices, just too theatrical acting for me (gave me high school theatre kid full sending it to their teacher vibe) but thats not a con more of an opinion

I would have easily spent 10 bucks or more for this game, its definitely more than worth the 5 dollars. I just SO badly wish there was more game cause I seriously loved it and I'm so so sad I have nothing left to do! Left craving more content.

Lovely story, took 8 hours to get all achievements (which are largely story and a handful of collection based ones) Highly recommend, I got it on sale for 10 bucks and I am extremely satisfied. Music and graphics are beautiful,, gotta love the funky jazz. Hunting for the last few cards though was really stressful I wish there was a way to track which cards out of the deck you have but otherwise I have no complaints.

Overall: not a bad game, not the best either.

Pros:
-Simple mechanics
-Pretty
-Good stories
-Cheap
-Good puzzles. Not too hard, not too easy.

Cons:
-you have to really explore and hear every detail to be able to successfully figure out what happened. (not necessarily a bad thing though, but it makes it easy to miss key details sometimes)
-Very short, only about 5 levels.
-The English voice acting is definitely not top-tier. Some actors are good, others are borderline comical, and don't fit. They all sounded nice though, quality recordings.
-Something feels lacking. The game is so short they take 90% game fleshing out what you are doing, the last level is when it begins to feel you're truly getting into this whole 'acoustic detective thing' just for it to end, and kind of abruptly.
-No subtitles. As someone who turns on subtitles for everything, I was pretty disappointed at this.

------------

All in all, it's a $7 dollar game I waited to buy on sale (wound up paying -30% off for about 5 bucks) and I think that's about as much as it's worth. It's, I'd say, about 4 or 5 hours worth of game play (including my grinding to get all the achievements). It's a fine game, and if you enjoyed the Orwell series it's safe to say you'd like this as well. Although, I do think Orwell is better at this kind of mystery/detective game. Plus, Orwell doesn't leave you feeling shorted with such a quick game.

TL;DR: It's fine but I bought it on sale and I'm glad I did. 7/10

EDIT: So I downloaded and played the free DLC. I loved it. It was a great addition to the game and it was a harder level that really delivered. The story was good, the voice acting was a lot better and more consistent than the base game, I also found the writing more impressive. I was enthralled and excited to find the next bit of information. Plus I enjoyed the added bit of knowing a character and who they might connect to, but struggling to find the names cause nobody really says names in conversation, it seemed realistic and a nice touch!
with the DLC I say the game is a solid 8/10 although the DLC is definitely a 10/10 compared to the other levels. :))

TL;DR: DLC was great and with it I'd say the game in it's entirety is 8/10!
Loved it and I recommended it to my friends.

So, it may currently say I only have a small amount of hours as I just bought this from steam, but I actually own a copy for my xbox360 that I've put at least over a 100 hours playing. This was my favorite game to play when I was younger and I've played all the characters multiple time through. When I noticed it was on steam I bought it immediatly, I love this game so much. I've always thought the style was perfect for the game and the controls just perfect. It's so pretty and witty and an overall great game I've gotten countless hours out of. The humor is great and the puzzles a perfect level of challenge. Personally my favorite characters stories were: The Twins, The Scientist, and the Adventurer or The Knight-- or maybe The Time Traveller- THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD. They are all amazing stories with amazing dark twists, (though I will say The Monk is my least faovrite), with a perfect blend of humor. I recomend playing the game through a few times with a new set of characters each time, each giving you a totally different experiance, you can have an insane amount of game hours with each combonation of explorers.
I highly recomend this game.
