The devotion system greatly expands the skill customization found in Diablo like RPG clones and makes the game stand on his own. It allow you to have skills such as a passive lightning shotgun that arcs to enemies(inquisitor with the Ultos devotion) or summoning skeletons on kills (Revenant devotion) I recommend getting the game and all the expansions on a Steam sale for the full experience.
