Long time player first time reviewer. I have a lot I could say about the game and how things have transitioned from first launch to now but going to keep it short and sweet.

Infinity Wars at its core was an amazing concept. It was something unique in a field that was so saturated with Hearthstone and Magic the Gathering clones. From the first day I touched the game I couldn't put it down. I played the ♥♥♥♥ out of it and even streamed it hardcore for quite a while (under another moniker DelusionsOfHope). The gameplay was so refreshing and how the simultaneous turns worked out was excecuted very well in my opinion. Factions each felt unique (even if not balanced well at some points in their life) and each had their own playstyle. The command zone was a fresh take on deck restrictions and felt like a good way to control some of the inherit RNG that comes with card games. The community that was fostered from this game was also second to none. I made a lot of friends (who I still talk to this day) from this game. We were all so invested in the game and did everything we could to foster its growth. So many different people contributed in their own way from Lore to running tournaments.

Where the breakdown (once again my opnion) came from was communication. They started out very strong with having a good Community Manager (TerrorMoose!) who was so invested in the game himself. He was the face of Infinity Wars and they honestly probably couldn't of had a better person helming it. The first year felt really good. Communication was there and it felt like our voices were heard. After that though things went downhill quickly. Within a few years they cycled through two (at least to my knowledge) Community Managers and communication just slipped further and further into oblivion. After Teremus left than core community memebers started to trickle away one by one. I kept the faith myself for quite a while and played till the bitter end. The streaming community was very tight knit and it started to trickle away about the same time as well.

They relaunched the game several times and had it in and out of beta at least one (to my recollection). They tried getting a publisher, rebranding and every other trick they could. Through all of it I kept the faith because the core game itself was still so rich and had so much depth that every other card game felt empty and hollow. But how they handled communication and letting people know what was going on was abysmal at best. The final bridge that was burnt for me was that they didn't even announce a "maintenance mode" or discontiueing support for the game anywhere public.

Than out of the blue they come out with a new game that has the same feel as Infinity Wars but is made for mobile and what I also gathered "e-sports". This stung me hard as there was nothing wrong with the original game at all. But it felt as though they just set her out to pasture without even a single thought. As I stated above they could have put the game into maintenance mode at least and said they were working on another project. Let the people who put time and money into the game enjoy it even if we had nothing new on the horizion. Let us know that they were thinking of it while they get this new project off the ground than come back to infinity wars and revisit. But it feels like we just got the cold shouler.

Anyway this just the ramblings of an old man that misses a game he thoroughly enjoyed and a community in which I was glad to take part in. I for one will not be looking forward to any other games brought by Lightmare as this has left a severe sour taste in my mouth. That being said I do wish them all the best and hope they do suceed. They are a talented group of people who deserve to have their work seen by the entire gaming world. Much love all and happy card slinging <3
