Philip Frank, Ph.D. received his doctoral degree in clincal psychology from the University of Washington in 1974. He completed internship training at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Seattle and Highline-West Seattle Mental Health Center. Dr. Frank has been licensed to practice psychology in the state of Washington since 1976.

Dr. Frank works with adults, adolescents and children experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, stress-related problems (such as headaches, hypertension, and chronic pain), abuse related problems, major life transitions and low self-esteem. He provides counseling for individuals, couples and families with alcohol and drug abuse problems. He has experience with relapse prevention, working with co-dependency and treating adult child issues. Dr. Frank also has a background in Gerontology and is experienced in working with the special problems of older patients.

Dr. Frank is skilled in stress, anger and anxiety management, biofeedback and relaxation training, communication and assertiveness skill building, and conflict resolution with couples and families. He is a talented child and family therapist and a large portion of his caseload is devoted to working with children and adolescents. In addition, Dr. Frank conducts psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of children and adults.

Dr. Frank generally uses a short-term, cognitive-behavior therapy approach geared toward identifying and changing self-defeating thought and behavior patterns, reducing symptoms and resolving problems. In addition, he uses a psychodynamic approach and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma and victim recovery work, and a systems approach for working with marital and family difficulties. Hypnotherapy is also used where appropriate.
