https://pastebin.com/9hHtF0Xp for my previous review of this game (8/27/18) that I deleted to post this one.

TL;DR: Play ArcheAge Unchained. The legacy servers will probably die out soon due to Unchained's release.

I'm writing a new review in lieu of the release of ArcheAge Unchained, a buy to play version of ArcheAge where all pay to win aspects are completely removed, and the usage of alts is minimized. This has drawn back thousands of players who have previously quit ArcheAge for whatever reason they quit, and the hype is real.

I said in my previous review that updates have been improving the game significantly due to the game's creator, Jake Song, returning to develop. This continues to be true. With the release of Unchained will also come the infamous 6.0 update which completely changes the game for both new and current players. There's more to do and it's easier to get endgame gear than it has ever been. Many people are saying that ArcheAge will be the perfect MMO when Unchained releases and I couldn't agree more.

If you're reading this review then you probably already know, but about a year ago Trion Worlds went bankrupt (which was quite the surprise seeing as they had just bought another company months prior and then laid off a bunch of employees weeks in advance) and was absorbed by gamigo. The reactions that some players had to this transition and gamigo's takeover of Trion's games was absolutely hilarious to watch. Total panic mode.

In regards to ArcheAge, the primary team is still there working for gamigo--Khrolan, Socke, Tinen, BigDataDude, etc.

Celestrata, Quillodon (big sad) and Brasse were laid off.

So yeah, long story short, don't bother with legacy. Play Unchained when it releases on October 15th. Legacy will be dominated by toxic whales that free farm events and bosses.
