Strictly PvP games are a cancer.

I'm a somewhat casual gamer. I'll admit this. I'm also very much an introvert. But at the same time, I can understand why people want social based games, as it's a good and cool way to pull in people to play together.

However...

It is absolutely infuriating when you require that everyone else play in a competitive way, or offer incentives for picking on other players. You will piss everyone else off except for the absolute impotent and infantile scum that takes enjoyment from the destruction of others.

This is literally my entire Sea of Thieves story:

I did the maiden voyage. Nice.

On my first voyage out on my own, as I turn the corner on an island, there's a ship that is lying in wait. I then am killed without provocation, or without any loot of value. They then spawn camp me on my own damn boat. On my third visit to the ferry, I notice a sign that says "Hey, you annoyed with this thing? Just sink your damn boat so you can deal with the thing that we know is a problem.

Then, literally my second time playing; I spent three hours with a good friend of mine doing quests, and through circumstance of good fate, we amassed a great haul of loot. We were at the outpost trying to cash in at least 10 separate chests, at least 3 of them Captain chests. That's when a squad of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Started by shouting "We don't want any trouble" and then immediately firebombed our ship, and stole all of our loot.

This is why any PvP based open world is bound to become filled with toxicity and rage. There is only reward and no drawback for being a horrible human being when people just want to play the damn game.

There are several simple things that could be done to remedy this issue.
1: Offer a PvE mode.
2: Create drawbacks for taking other players' stuff. Even the Division realized that there should at least be some kind of consequence for stealing from the other players.
3: Make the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ outposts a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ safe zone.
4: Don't base your game on a PvP system unless you have plans to make make a "peaceful" mode.

The game if fine in terms of just a vanilla game. The single player campaigns are somewhat lacking,(First Contact is hella fun though,) but the best way to play this is to find a unit online, and to use mods. There are units that use overhaul mods that turn the game into things like Halo Milsims, Star wars Clone trooper units, Vietnam, WWII, the list goes on and on. The trick is just finding the community you want, and that will determine the bulk of your enjoyment.

While the game definitely needs some proper updates in terms of it's engine, and bugs are rather prevalent, it's a solid game.
