i remember some psychologist talking about seizures and the moments leading up to them, these moments have a specific name, and anyway he was saying about this one guy who, in the moment leading up to the seizure, would be convinced that there's an exact replica of himself, or some other 'being' standing behind him, and he wouldn't experience a seizure until the moment he actually looked behind him to check, if he didn't check he wouldn't experience the seizure
