Brilliant and original story-based hacking puzzle game.

The only thing I can compare this to is the sections of SuperHot that come in-between the levels. If you like those, you'll love this game. 'Course, if you hated them, then this game probably isn't up your alley either.

Absolutely fantastic, underappreciated gem. Belongs in the same top-notch NES-like category as games like Shovel Knight or Mega Man 9 even though it's only had a fraction of the publicity.

Not only is the authenticity 100% flawless (right down to by FAR the best (optional) CRT simulator I've ever seen, anywhere), but if this were an actual NES-era cart, it would've deserved a place on the NES Classic and any other list of the best games on the system. Playing this game is really is like discovering a long-lost NES best-seller.

Gameplay-wise, I would describe this as somewhat of a cross between Mario, Metroid and Zelda, but with more emphasis on exploration than battle. In fact, there isn't any battle in this game, aside from avoiding getting hit. But the game is so well-balanced and centred around exploration, defence and abilities, that I didn't even notice I hadn't killed a single enemy until I had already completed the game.

The author's other 2D games are absolutely top-notch as well (including the Gunmetal Arcadia series if you do miss the combat, and this game's predecessor if you have even the slightest bit of nostalgia for CGA-era gaming), but out of all of them, this one is the crown jewel.
