The power goes out, so the generator kicks on and (as far as I know) is generating 15 kW of power. If I'm not running 15 kW worth of electrical devices, what happens? Like, again just throwing out numbers, let's say I have a 5 kW refrigerator and 5 kW worth of lights and computers or something. Is it using the same amount of natural gas as if I was using 15 kW of stuff, or is it only generating the power I'm using? (Surely this isn't the case, because the engine is still going to be using fuel even if I turn everything off. Right?) If it's still generating the full 15 kW no matter what, what happens to the rest of that power?

Let's say I've got a generator, and it's rated at like 15 kW. (The actual numbers aren't relevant, I'm just throwing out a number.) I don't think it matters but let's say it's running off of the natural gas line.

f you run a generator too low for too long, you will get what's called "wet stacking", where unburned fuel and stuff starts to build up

This generator is configure to produce 230V on output. I connect an air compressor on it and then the output was 240V. The compressor runs fine.
