This game is a hidden gem. It's basically 13th century The Last of Us with Hellblade and God of War(2018) sprinkled in.

As a fan of the previous three Wolfenstein games from Machine Games, it is sad to say that this game was a complete disaster. I played the story from start to finish and have done over half of the side missions and the game is just not that good. The combat is the best part (when your not firing a full clip of a fully upgraded shotgun into an enemy). Everything is just very meh or bad. The story missions are not good and the final boss fight is stupidly hard for no reason. Everything about this game is just a big miss.

One of the most underrated games. If you remotely like any of
The mad max movies, you will love this game.

What's there to say besides it's everything we ever wanted from a "king of the hill" game. The gameplay isn't slowed down like ARMA or DayZ and isn't like H1Z1. It has a perfect pace to it and you can finish a match within 30 mins (If you make it to top 20). This game has given me hope in early access again and I applaud the developers for listening to the community.

Early Access Review
This review will be going over the current state of the game.
Synopsis

The Forest is a 1st person Action-Survival Horror Game. Let's just say it's more survival then horror. The game starts off with you in a airplane next to what we assume is your child. Soon after your plane goes down and crashes in The Forest. You wake up to only see your child being kidnapped. After that you wake up and are left to figure what the hell to do and where to go.

Review of Visual Fidelity and Features.
The Forest is one of the most beautiful indie games to this date. The game is built on the Unity engine and they sure use all of its power to make a breathtaking experience. In it's current state the textures are not bad at all but they could be better.
Shadow are nice. AA is really good. The overall quality is good.
The mechanics in this game will remind you somewhat of the game Rust. You have a survival book and you click the object that you want to build, place in the spot you want to put it then get the required resources to build it.
Combat
I only have a couple things to say about this. The tribe members take a ♥♥♥♥ ton of hits but the combat feels really nice.
Bugs
The current state of this game has so many bugs that it could be classified as unplayable. You can not save your progress. There is a lot of clipping. You can fall through the map and die. Sometimes the AI will keep running into walls. The inventory system does not work properly. You can dupe a lot of items. A lizard can climb a tree that has fallen down so he will be just floating there.
Is it a horror game?
With my personal experience, I would say it is not a horror game. I had 0 jumpscares. I would classify it as a suspense game.
Overall I would recommend getting this game not only to support devs but to have a great experience. I can not wait to see what this game will have to offer in the future.

It may be buggy but it's worth the $30! Let's just say being a bandit is way to fun and handcuffing people and feeding them windex is hilarious.

7.5/10
Outlast is a great overall horror experience. The devs of this game objective was to scare you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and they achieved there goal. First lets talk about gameplay. The gameplay is unique for this type of genre. Outlast brings back the true survival horror aspect by only giving you a camera to survive with against the insane freaks of the asylum. Besides that the mechanics are pretty simple in my opinion. Let's talk about visuals. This game has some of the best graphics to ever be seen in a indie game and is better then most of today's games so it raises the standards of what AAA games graphics should be. Now here is what drops my rating from a 10 to a 7.5. The STORY. Warning may contain SPOILERS. the story is so generic and bland that it takes your overall game experience. You arrive at a asylum to document the events that have been happening and all of sudden there is a mad priest that orders you to tasks. There is this giant pig creature that always manages to find you. Then you meet a doctor who cuts off 2 fingers. Then there is a ghost who haunts you. There is some other stuff in there that just throws the story off like 2 naked guys who appear out of no where and insane people crucify and burn the priest. The worst part is that the ending is really bad and I am not going to spoil that.
Outlast is an overall fun and terrifying experience. If you like to get scared at night when the lights then this game is for you.
