Combines the side-reboiler, pump around, double effect distillation and vapour compression into a single system to improve energy efficiency. Has high pressure in its rectification section, resulting in higher temperature in the condenser, thus increasing the quality of heat rejected. It's stripping column is maintained at low pressure, thus reducing the temperature of the reboiler, allowing heat to be transferred from the condenser to the reboiler.
