I bought this on sale with the expectation to be a "realistic", "strategic" or "hardcore" WW2 shooter, how many people call this in reviews. What i got was a casual close combat game without any depth ala COD. The diverse roles, the weapon and movement feeling is decent and the sound is pretty good imo. The graphic is sufficient for me and not a real criteria for games like these. What really annoys me are the way too small maps with often only 2-3 options to get in the caps. This results in a fast and uncoordinated run and gun gameplay where automatic weapons like MP's have a huge advantage over good old rifles. Even so i would rate me as a pretty decent rifler with a couple hundred hours in RO2. Since the class limits are pretty tight it gets unbalanced. A boring experience where every round feels the same. You smoke up the few chokepoints and rush in the caps while the enemy MG blind fires in. Since the ways are so limited it results in annoying meat grinder spots. The respawn management is terrible done imo. In which world does it make sence, to give the attacking forces way less reinforcement at the beginning, then to the defenders? Every second map i played ended after a few minutes, because the attacking forces run out of steam before they could even get the first cap. I also don't really like the wave type of the reinforcement but this is a matter of taste i guess. If you want a strategic WW2 experience with depth, I would recommend you Red Orchestra/Rising Storm games. But if you search a casual shooter in WW2 style to get some fast action in the evening, go for it. For me it is barely worth the 6 bucks i spend.

To start the review, i wan't to say, that i played the first game, really enjoyed it and didn't have high expectations for this.
It has it's emotional moments with some chill tunes but i never got into the mood, nor did i get excited about what would happen next. I didn't miss the ability to rewind, which was a big part before tho.
Most of the time is filled with teenager drama situations, that could be replaced with anything similar, without making any diffrence to the story. There is barely no gameplay, you get forced from one cutscene into the next one. Sometimes you are allowed to turn a round in a room or another tiny area to search something. I am aware that this is no exploring game, but there was alot more space in the first one. It feels more like a movie filled with options for you to choose from, while most of them don't even have an impact on the dialogue, let alone the story, cause i played some parts several times just to see the diffrence. Also the game has alot of flashbacks for Cloe which get really annoying, cause they don't add anything important.
If you feel like a huge fan of the series, go for it. But you can also enjoy the experience of the first one and don't add a bad taste, since it doesn't enhance it in any way. I would also not recommend it, if u didn't play the first one, cause it would be even more boring without knowing the backstory, even so you don't need it, if you really want to play it.

Spend my time as little pig in the main menu and in lockers. Pretty fun tho
