This is a group heavy game. The combat scales in difficulty to party size, but it's really only enjoyable with a group. The combat can be clunky, and unless you're over-leveled, it feels unfair most of the time. The gear progression is pretty lack luster, where play time is rewarded instead of skill and there's next to no hints or direction. We've tried our hardest not to look up guides or wikis, but it's almost necessary if you haven't invested time playing prior to the 1.0 release. Will most likely uninstall after we finish this play through.

Original review: Spent 12 minutes trying to connect to servers, wouldn't connect. Awaiting my refund

Servers were fixed, repurchased the game. It was good, had a lot of fun. Slowly started getting less fun with each update. Weapons were nerfed, weapons were added, weapons were nerfed. Gets even less fun. Soon to require a PSN account, awaiting my refund yet again.

boring gameplay and bad QoL, not fun

Fun and creative, the lack of end-game tools keeps you actively playing for hours

The main game mechanic is that you pick up your fallen comrades. Some missions will have snipers, mines, or other soldiers patrolling, all of which can kill your soldiers. Your soldiers are essentially a punching bag because they cannot do anything other than sometimes kill enemy troops. You can also heal fallen enemy troops who can instantly turn around to kill you. There's no differentiation between friendly or hostile fallen soldiers. The snipers also don't really care for who they spot first, they will pick a target at random to kill. Oh, and your friendly soldiers can also kill you if they step on a mine near you. Overall, there isn't really anything that intriguing about this game because of the lack of thought behind the mechanics, would not recommend this at all.

A brief guide:
1. loot everything within a 1 mile radius
2. set up camp on a cliff near a giant tree
3. read that the giant tree is their holy land
4. spend 4 nights fighting off cannibals with plane axe
5. leave to settle at a beach
6. set up a strong base
7. get attacked by octopus and 10 mutants
8. throw explosive
9. break your own walls and traps
10. cry when a spider comes to attack you
11. go into a cave
12. cry a lot
13. lighter goes out
14. cry even more
15. die by cowmen gangbang
16. repeat

Absolute garbage, the game can barely load and the start menu lags. On top of that, I can't even load anything past the intro movie. Don't get this game until they fix all the bugs.
