This DLC is just a pure cash-grab made by anti-consumerist publishers. Pure and simple.

Squad which develops the game has assured us that Take-Two Interactive would not take control of the game after buying them out and being the publisher. This is a pure lie for obvious reasons. Publishers have the right to change development of a game willy-nilly and with this DLC and the new EULA, it becomes especially obvious.

The expansion was originally supposed to be a few new historical parts, the mission editor with indepth missions and that is it. Those parts however were to be more fleshed out than the final release.

Instead what we got was multiple features that are locked behind a paywall in the final release for no reason. Things such as plates for attaching more than one engine on a fuel tank are desperately needed but only in the DLC.

Then theres comes the fact that the parts themselves are unbalanced. For some reason, they made all of the parts superior than in stock in almost every way. Thrust, TWR and ISP are all much better for no reason. Especially on the wolfhound, which has the worst looking model in the game and was obviously made without balanced and was rushed. It is a superior version of the "Poodle" engine already in the game, but with more fuel efficiency, thrust and TWR. It also takes up a tiny bit less space. This is simply unbalanced and the developpers are not changing it. A paid part being unbalanced would be a thing in a multiplayer free-to-play game, except that KSP is only singleplayer and you have to pay for the game.

And thanks to this expansion, modders cannot create the same parts but with more love and more balance. If they try to use engine-plates without the DLC, they cannot because of this expansion now. The new EULA also says that modding the game is not allowed. Keep in mind that such a decision would affect development of a game, contradicting what the devs said about the aquisition. Luckily, this rule is not enforced.

In short, do not buy this. Its simply a cash-grab.

EDIT: The old review was for an older version of the game. While the game has generally improved with things like the EULA issues being ironed out and engines being balanced again, the game suffers from issues such as a lack of actual bug-fixing.

This game is great. It has stood up for many years. The gameplay is addicting and i find myself playing it alot. Frequent updates are also very nice, even when they include something you dont like. There are 5 classes. Just dont play a scout.
