As somebody who played and absolutely loved Total War: Warhammer I, Warhammer II is everything a sucessor could be. The gameplay has drastically improved from the first game (not that there was much to fix!) and everything I loved from the first game has been brought here. CA truly listened to their community with this game, and I have a hard time picking out anything that I could say is a negative.

The incredible faction variety, especially if you already own game 1, is breathtaking. No two factions play the same, and even two factions within the same racial group will have drastically different campaigns and mechanics. Best learn them if you want to wage war and be victorious!

The Vortex campaign is story driven with amazing cutscenes and lore that is easy to understand if you're new, but also authentic and immersing to the veterans of the Warhammer Fantasy universe. The mechanics of the campaign itself also reflect the story, greatly boosting immersion and creating that sense you're really in a race against time to beat everyone else and claim the Vortex for yourself!

When it comes to downsides though, I have only two gripes. Firstly, anything short of a hexcore super computer, and you won't be able to play on the maximum grahpics. Which is really a shame, because the battles are brutal and mesmerizing and definitely worth a watch if you're not busy issuing orders. This in turn translates to longer load times which can take a couple minutes at a time, even on medium graphics with my gaming laptop.

Secondly, as others have already pointed out, the DLC policy is very aggressive. While I feel the DLC is reasonably priced for what you get, there is quite a bit of DLC, especially if you factor in Warhammer I. To get the Mortal Empires campaign, a feature of Warhammer II, you need to buy Warhammer I in the first place, which I'm sure is a turn off to many people.

Overall, Warhammer II is an absolute gem in a genre that I hold very dear to my heart. If you liked Warhammer I or the Warhammer Fantasy universe, this is an absolute must buy. Even at full price, you won't be disappointed.

Trust me. Besides, look how many hours I've logged. Need I say anything else?

As a fan of the 40k franchise and 4X games generally speaking, I recommend getting Gladius. The graphics and sound are spot on and totally contribute to the feel and atmosphere of the setting. The game has plenty of customization options as well, along with modding support which can really help replayability.

Speaking of replayability, every time you play, the map will be different. It's randomly generated every time so no 2 matches will ever be the same. You can set the amount land mass, specific terrain features, "wildlife" density, and the list goes on. It actually borders on overwhelming with how much you can dictate what will be in your map. Each game can also have up to *16* human players or AI, which, for somebody who came from games like Command & Conquer and Battle for Middle-Earth, is absolutely incredible and really contributes to the epic scale of the conflicts.

It's not all shiny and rainbows, though. For one thing, the game lacks any dedicated campaigns or serious story telling. There aren't any characters to get connected to or root for, and it feels like you're just reading a history book that is the memoirs of some historian around during the time. Additional game modes is something I think the game could greatly benefit from, as right now there is only one. The other major drawback for me right now is the lack of factions, but that is going to be fixed in time so I don't feel comfortable counting that as a negative.

Overall, if you're a fan of 40k or a more casual, well-paced 4X game, give Gladius a run! I've had plenty of fun with it, and I've only played one faction :)

My recorded hours for this game should tell you just how much I love it. Before I checked into TW:WH, the only other TW game I'd tried was Napoleon. I hadn't had a great experience with it, so I was very skeptical of buying Warhammer when a friend recommended it to me. I checked out some videos, and watched a campaign playthrough of the Vampire Counts. I watched 6 separate parts for it, and afterwards I said, "I NEED this game. Now."

I shelled out 60 dollars for it, and that was indeed painful, but it has been well worth it. I've played a campaign for each different race, and each one, especially the newer factions, offer something unique and make them worth playing. I definitely had the best time with Norsca, plundering and razing the old world in the name of the Dark Gods!

Overall, I give this game a solid 9.5/10. The only thing holding it back for me is the aggressive DLC policy. Still, theres plenty of base game content and FLC to make this game a definite buy. Fantasy and Strategy is a match made in heaven for me, so I can't help but recommend this game. If you're concerned about the amount of DLC, or not sure which ones to get if you can't afford them all, I recommend these 3 must-haves:

-Chaos Warriors DLC
-Wood Elves DLC
-Norsca DLC

I've never written a review for a Steam game before. Let that tell you, again, how much I love this game.
