Feels like the love child of Aliens: CM and Metro 2033. Generally terrible voice acting (Commander Barren is an exception, Patrick is a really egregious example). Poor visuals. Weapon SFX are pretty low quality.
Everyone focuses on the fact that you can't kill T800's until you get plasma weaponry, which I agree is cool. Things like that don't make up for general shallowness though. Enemies give up on searching for you really quickly a la Skyrim's 'Must have just been the wind' mechanics.
I genuinely wanted to enjoy this game. I'll probably play it through to the end but honestly it's just really not even average.
Overall: 5/10. Don't recommend and I got it for less than £20. Hope that someone else played this and got what they wanted. It isn't without its moments but just generally really deeply disappointing. I feel like this is what the terminator salvation game should have been back in the day. It's 13 years later and this game is just 13 years too late. Would have been an adequate for a game adaptation of a movie but does not do well standing on its own two feet.

Things I disliked:
-Battle music you can't turn off. DUHNUHNUHNUH every time I come across a spider drone. Then again when the second one comes along three seconds later. Repeat ad nauseam.
-The entire game is either on rails cinematic sequences or just a re-skinned version of the Concord battle in Fallout 4. Bit of scavenging, bit of fighting. Free to move around but not really.
-The ridiculous face zoom onto ugly character models when you speak with anyone. If I were you guys I'd be trying to draw attention away from how they look.
-Predictable, repetitive world building. Before entering the resistance base I told myself there'd be dogs by the door and a TV set with a fire inside. I was right. There wasn't much else.
-Ooh infiltrator wiped out hero's division. Everyone has ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terminator detecting NV goggles. How did anyone get past you? Dogs all asleep?

Things I liked:
-So long as you don't look too closely at anything the style for the world seems right and feels reminiscent of the movies.
-Frogger hacking mini-game is hilarious.
-Some good fan service (Robert Patrick is a resistance soldier corpse here and he's modelled perfectly).
-Again, having to avoid the T800's in the early game. Cool, but not enough to give the game depth. I never felt it was a turning point or anything. Just like 'Oh, cool. Pew pew.'

Anyway. Just because the movies have had a horrible run since maybe T3 (Which I liked okay, but didn't love) doesn't mean you should be playing to their standards. Not interesting enough to hold my attention for long. Going to power through to the end and follow it up with a swift uninstall.

Alright so,
I love this game. I love the way the sky feels like it's falling down when arty hits or a spooky makes a pass. I love the assymetric gameplay. I love the realistic sounds to the weapons and that this isn't a shooter you can just pick up and expect to go MVP. It's a thinker, it's difficult. All unique classe are in limited supply and when a noob (we are all noobs, the game released a few days ago but let me finish) picks one up and can't fill the boots of the role intended it really hurts the team. BUT WAIT you can literally vote someone out of an important role with the reason selected beaing literally "I can do it better". That is phenomenal. The gameplay is balanced well in my own opinion. The only few things that bug me are: The spot markers (Whilst I like the idea) do not lock onto an enemy, they act as markers to the location you aim at and give your team the distance on their HUD. The problem being that they disappear pretty quickly, but I can understand that this game is a very mobile one usually. It just leaves the feature a little underused from what I have seen. Another thing that bugs me is the small roster of maps, which are all beautifully designed. I just hope for more in future updates, although I'm not sure what is planned.

That's pretty much it. I haven't mentioned every little thing but at the moment the games biggest problem is literally people playing it to casually without headsets, ignoring role responsibilities etc.

(Lastly the menu music is CCR's "Run through the jungle" and is the perfect track. after it finishes it's replaced by silence.. I wouldn't mind a few more bangers or even "Long tall Sally" in the Hueys when a full squad is present)

Thanks AMG; never played red orchestra but this game has made me want to. 10/10 would shag.

Early Access Review
Excellent game, great mechanics and a unique and interesting story. The only gripe I have is that the writing is awful. It really takes you out of the experience when you notice how badly written some of the journal entries are. Maybe I've been spoiled by reading too much sci fi. I love this game, and I've only scratched the surface. Would recommend to anyone who has even a little bit of a masochist in them :P Who doesn't love a tough survival game?
