One of the first real non-browser computer games I ever played, and it holds up to this day. Game is beautiful, challenging, and has a solid amount of well-scaling content. Some aspects require patience, but it's really not that bad. I don't find it tedious at all. As someone who doesn't like RTS games, I love this game because you are able to exercise total control over units (especially the squads) when you want to, and can let them manage themselves at other times. Perfect blend of hands-on action, and big picture map strategy. Nothing else like it.

Pros:
- Hand Drawn
- Beautiful sound/music, beautifully designed environments
- Monet paintings are pretty

Cons:
- Gameplay is somewhat repetitive, tedious, and doesn't scale much in complexity or difficulty. The puzzles do not get much harder beyond minor new mechanics being introduced here and there, and given how large some of the environments, these new mechanics just make for more back and forth walking you have to do.

- Bugs are frequent, causing a puzzle to be unsolvable unless you reset it, contributing even more to the "ugh I just want to get this over with" feeling. Some bugs cause objects to not be movable past a certain point, which they are supposed to be able to move past. Some bugs cause color vents to not blow through certain platforms as they're supposed to. Some bugs cause color vents to get stuck in certain states (blowing red even after the red has been turned off). For gameplay that is so simple, soft-locking bugs become unbearable.

- Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that the paintings, Monet, being inside the eye of Monet, seems to be nothing beyond background flavor. There is no narrative - meta, minor, or otherwise - that these paintings contribute to. You simply solve puzzles, and then look at a Monet painting. There is no story being told here whatsoever. I think a good comparison would be a game like Gris, which is not all about the gameplay, and is much more about the environment, and the art. HOWEVER, Gris, completely wordless, still depicts a very compelling narrative. This game shows us nothing about Monet, it says nothing about "what it would be like to be in the eye of a great painter". There's no connection to the character or art beyond it simply being present. It doesn't have us participate in the development of this art beyond shoving a chunk of a painting into another chunk of a painting, hearing a "ding", and moving on to the next.

All in all, a game that focuses on atmosphere, as I believe this one tries to do, needs to be immersive. If immersion is broken, then you're just sitting through an average puzzle platformer, which I can get for free from old flash games. Immersion is broken in two major ways here: There is no narrative which draws me into that world, and frequent bugs completely halt the gameplay and rip me out of a world I was struggling to be drawn into in the first place. The art is beautiful, the concept is great, but it seems the gameplay was not given as much thoughtful attention as it needed, and neither was the writing/narrative.

I would've recommended this game on the gameplay alone. Very fluid combat mechanics, just the right amount of challenging, but not punishing you for your mistakes in a severe way. Kind of feels a bit like the pace of a hotline miami game in a way. Satisfying easy-to-pick up movement and combat. However...

The story of this game got me f***ed up. Had me feeling things from beginning to end. Beautiful Slice of Life full of the wide range of human emotions. Full of tragedy, anger, sadness, frustration, grief...regrets...and yet these glimmering pieces of love and kindness shine through in between. Absolutely 10/10 game.

There are few games I've ever played that really nail the feel of arcade-y space/air combat. This game does it flawlessly. The controls are incredibly simple and intuitive, but are set at a pace that makes the game endlessly satisfying. Great use of sound design and art to create a truly distinct atmosphere when playing. I easily get lost in this world.

What I mostly judge for Early Access is how fluid/enjoyable the core gameplay mechanics are, along with whatever systems are in place. This game is all mechanics right now, and they are literally perfect. The upgrade system continues to be developed, and maintains good game balance.

I am excited for whatever the "Full Release" version of this game looks like, and any new content that will bring. But even if it never gets there, this was a $10 well spent. This game is unique and very VERY well built. Highly recommend.

This game absolutely has my vote for the "I'm not crying, there's just something in my eye" award

I have never cried so hard and so much for any game ever, and this game has more to offer in 4 hours, than any other game you'll find playing for 30+. The storyline is so beautiful and complex, yet easy to follow in the most unique representation of a love story, and the most heartwrenching soundtrack coupled with perfectly fitting art, you have yourself one of the greatest games we will ever find.

This game had so much potential in it's beginning, and usually brought some pretty good updates, it's community was active and generally decent people, and developers didn't have a negative relationship with players. Now, where we are now is where we have been for about a year now: In terms of updates, it's 1 step forward 3 steps back - we're made to believe that something cool is coming, or something good is coming, and sometimes it does, but usually updates that follow are either 1) ignoring problems with previous updates 2) fixing "problems" that never existed 3) Creating fixes for problems that actually then create worse problems 4) Make it more Pay-to-Win 5) add new useless, bad, or pay-to-win features/items.

I can no longer say that I still play it for the game, rather I only play it because of the bonds I've forged with many of the pilots in my corporation, and I don't want to leave that. I wouldn't recommend that anyone new wastes their time with this game.
