I recommend it with some conditions. It's not a very good game, but I still found enough fun to be worth my time. If you consider this a higher quality fan mod (which is about the level of quality to expect here, not that it is an actual fan mod), there is some fun to be had here. Obviously, expecting this to be comparable to Human Revolutions or even the original Deus Ex will only result in dissapointment.

VOICE ACTING
The voice acting is pretty bad, but a lot better than I've seen from some fan mods that have tried to do voice acting. The dialogue options are extremely limited, with very few opportunities for it to make a difference.

STORY
It's ok and it keeps the pace going.

GAMEPLAY
A lot of areas are streamlined, probably primarily to do it being originally a mobile game. No jumping, which I disliked, but I can see why one might cut that here. It gives the designers a lot more control over where a player can go in the game without having to design additional ways to block player movement to account for jumping. This also focuses the type of gameplay they are offering, allowing multiple ways through environments.

STEALTH
I liked that full stealth options were available, as well as guns ablazing.

HACKING
Much easier than in Human Revolutions, but plenty of things to hack and a few good opportunities to turn robots and turrets against your enemies.

GOODS
I noticed a ton of weapons available for purchase... though I never bought any. The store might be too easy to access, but it gave a lot more options than typically can be found. Everything is probably too plentiful in the game.

LEVELING
Leveling up was really quick, which was good since the game was short.

ONE SAVE + BUGS
I hate single save options. Just make sure when you save, nothing screwy is happening, though I found only a couple bugs during my playthrough.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If anything, the game is too easy, but I still found it fun and I'm interested in seeing where things might go next, if they still planned on making another one. It's a nice diversion, as long as you don't expect much from it. Buy it on sale, if interested, and you should be good.

I really enjoyed the commentary track on this and definitely worth it for fans of the game.

As for the game itself:
The Good: Really solid update to the Augmentions, with most of them being really useful with a good experience system to back it up. If you like sc-fi RPGs or if you loved the first game, this is definitely a must play. There are so many things to love about this game, from the setting, art style, dialogue system, a lot of pluses. The story for the most part is engaging and flows pretty well.

I love the hacking in this game, but then, I have enjoyed the hacking in all the Deus Ex games.

The Bad: The first level is very misleading and not representative of the kind of game you are in for (it seems to be a really standard FPS game). At least, it isn't too hard to quickly get through this if you have any familiariy with these types of games. The other major gripe I have is the last level, which, while pretty to look at, is just utter crap to really have fun in. This is the last chance to use your abilities and just have fun with it, yet the tone shifts entirely and all you have to fight are the lamest enemies.

If you look at the original Deus Ex, the final level, Area 51, has a lot of layers, a lot of different bad guys, large open areas with many layered sections and more confined areas. Dishonored, also, has a great final level that just lets you have as much fun as you want using all your various abilities however you want.

The bosses don't have a multitude of ways to beat them, but they aren't super tough, either, so I didn't mind so much.

The story seems like it will be bigger and richer than it ends up being. Hopefully, future games with play more on the consperiecy aspects, since that played an integral part to the original game.

A couple of the augmentations are really useless.

OVERALL: Good game that could have been great if more time and care had been given to the first and final levels to be more faithful to the rest of the game. Still, well worth playing!

So I saw a lot of positive word on this game and thought I would give it a chance on sale. From the start, really bored with the graphics and the lack of any kind of drive or anything interesting happening to get me to go from space to space. I guess I'm just supposed to go. So I stopped playing. Finally, decided to give it another chance. There is a moment of something interesting when we get the nice little graphic telling us what's going on and then we're in this hub thing, which looks appropriately cyberspace-like.

And then you enter these section puzzle areas. Why is this interesting? Why should I care? Please, give me a reason. I make it past one section, only to be stuck in this platform jumping thing with rising water level, sluggish movement, and randomly, we're supposed to find our way to the right jumps to get us high enough? After drowning repeatedly and being reset to the beginning of this level, my patience went to zero and I stopped.

The graphics have a definite style, but a lot of it looks really amataurish, like it came out of my beginning level design class with more complete functionality, but about the same level of graphical capability. And the story or rather, lack of story... it just made for a really boring game. The concept deserves a better game than this.

Not worth 5 bucks. If it were some free download, it might be interesting enough as a student thesis game or something. Then it would be like, wow, that's a cool final project. Well done. Anything else, there are so many better games out there to spend your time and money on.

The Good: Seems like a very faithful recreation of the board game, which I have always wanted to play and never had the opportunity. So you get the board game without a lot of the niggly details that come from setting up a board game, making sure you understand the rules, and finding another player to play against (though you still need to do this if you choose to play multiplayer). If you like strategy board games with dice rolls, this is definitely worthwhile to check out. The graphics are nice. Sound f/x and voice acting, all top notch.

SIDENOTE: I see some of the reviews and it seems like they want so much more than what this ever tried to be, which is an adaptation of the board game. That's why I bought this. If they had made a bunch of needless changes, it becomes less and less what it should be. If you want some other game, say, XCom, there's nothing wrong with that, but if you want XCom, go buy XCom.

The Bad: It will never fully replicate the feeling of rolling dice yourself, but that's a small loss. What bugs me about this game is that you are paying for about half of the game. And then you have to pay for the rest of the missions and you can't even access different 'chapters', yet the option is so clearly staring you in the face on the main menu locked. As much as I enjoy this game and the Warhammer 40k universe (and especially the Dawn of War series, which doesn't do this), this just rubs me the wrong way. At least have an alternate chapter you can access and then have additional chapters to purchase, if you will, so it doesn't quite seem like you are selling me an incomplete game.

Same with the additional campaigns that are there, staring you in the face with a lock symbol. At least don't put them there until after you buy them as DLC. Maybe include a DLC section, like many games, so that they remain separate and apart.

I know the DLC culture that game companies have embraced is the thing now, but I rather loathe it. I tend to wait until much later, so I can buy the most complete version of the game right off the bat (often the 'game of the year' edition).

LAST WORD: If you like Warhammer 40k and/or if you like board games, check this one out. My complaints really don't win out over what I enjoy about this game.

It's a good game.

There are areas in which I think could be expanded in terms of the market and how it relates to the games you make. There are times when the critics are hating your games, and there seems to be no way to understand why and improve or affect that rating very much. Publishers seem counter productive (and maybe that is the joke, but it's not reality. It used to be, without a publisher, it would very difficult to get your game out there, and yet there are such huge restrictions and penalties in this game that makes Publishers completely impractical and useless. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to actually do anything with them).

Is it fun? Yes. Can it be a bit addictive? Yes. But I hope the developers take all the feedback and pump it into a sequel that manages to take this to the next level. They have a good start, and now it's time to show how they can refine it.

The mechanics are awesome, as well as the art style and graphics, but the gameworld really is way too confining for them. I really wanted an open world with all kinds of places you can get to and tasks to be done, as well as multiple ways to achieve an objective and make use of the mechanics instead of trying to guess how the makers wanted me to use them.

The story is also very underwhelming, something about pants being stolen. And even if we don't have an open world, what to do shouldn't seem quite so vague (unless of course there is a lot there in a level, giving the players things to mess around with that might lead a player as to how to proceed in a level).

The tutorial level was simple, yet had a fun aesthetic to it and showed very clearly what was what.

In the end, I can't really recommend this game...
