very gritty and fun turn-based strategy. the branching tech tree and myriad customizations of my team kept my interest through the whole campaign. can't wait to start a new game+ and continue to train my team of badasses.

I'm running the game on a 2.13 ghz macbook air. does it run smoothly? no. is targeting AoE attacks difficult because the screen hops around wildly? yes. is the action sometimes slowed to a crawl as many things render onscreen? definitely.

does it matter even one iota? no. 10/10 would get impregnated by a chryssalid again.

10/10 would lay on the floor and feel like garbage again

"oh, cool, I have some time, maybe I'll shuffle around my tactics on Siralim and see where that goes..."

what I've seen so far, eight hours in, is fantastic. the art, atmosphere, writing, and music are all to die for. of course, the game is not 'perfect' -- I have minor UI quibbles (a few more tooltips couldn't hurt, why are all of my spells available to quickspell when I've only learned four or five?, the 'map' isn't exactly a map but a zoom-out feature (I'd prefer a real map that I can make notes on), and man, this thing sure is buggy right now (no doubt the devs will slowly iron it all out) -- BUT the thing is, my little qualms don't even matter; you can just tell how much love went into this game, pure & simple. for a two dev team, it's absolutely beautiful. even the knotty parts of the UI feel endearing after a few hours. fans of baldur's gate will be in absolute heaven, but any rpg fan owes it to their self to check this one out. highly recommended.

this is a good spiderweb game BUT everytime I unlock an achievement the game f'ing freezes. every. time. can someone at least tell me how the hell to turn off the achievements? it's very annoying to down a difficult boss and then have to do the fight again 'cause the achievement crashes the game.

why are there no ♥♥♥♥♥ save points

is it not insulting to anyone else to play for an hour then fall off a cliff looking for somewhere to save your game?

Maybe the best $1.99 I've ever spent. There's so much content and wonderful strategic character progression. If you can sacrifice a little sheen for deep mechanics, this is a no-brainer.
