Gameplay is fluid, controls are crisp and extremely responsive, builds are diverse and fun, boons significantly alter the experience of each run.

Story is unique and pulls you in, and it's interesting how Supergiant turned gods and legends into family and friends and even lovers.

10/10 would run away from home again

The sound bugs out every once in a while and I'll find myself suddenly left with a feeling of emptiness(peace) without the narrator's soothing(annoying) voice and entertaining(lame) puns.
Yaina Overproud, Dollaran, Stormbreeze, Lotsawinter... Lol.

Game is much more responsive than its predecessor and the changes were all improvements. Would recommend.

Update: Servers are fixed. No longer any server issues. 90% of the other negative reviews are, as of now, no longer valid :)

Original review:
I've played the original Space Run and loved it, so I was super hyped when I realised this sequel is coming out.

Well the biggest pressing issue right now is that the overwhelming sales overloaded the servers.

It's definitely a good thing that this game is getting the attention, but patience is needed while the devs actively sort this out. This isn't something to worry about though, because this is an issue that will probably be solved in a relatively short amount of time. The devs first tried hotfixing the issue, but when it became apparent that a simple hotfix wasn't enough, they have decided to take down the servers for 24h to sort things out.

It's a sad thing that almost all the negative reviews of this game are not reviews of the game, but reviews of the server that's currently under maintenance. Do people give small restaurants with good food but insufficient seats bad reviews? Most importantly, the devs are ACTIVELY working to solve the issues, so it will definitely be resolved in time.

That said, before the server was taken down, I managed to squeeze in about 5 hours of gameplay. The game itself is great. As mentioned above, it's the sequel to Space Run, which puts a very original spin on the classic tower defense genre.

Setting:
You are a space runner, and your job is to transport many different types of cargo from one spot to another. Along the way you'll need to protect your cargo from pirates and aliens, while making sure that you reach the destination as fast as you can. When it comes to deliveries, who cares about safety? Speed is all you need.

Gameplay:
You have 3 classes (colours) of (weapon / support)modules you can build on each run, at least 6 different things to build in each class, and every single module has 3 different levels. This gives players a HUGE amount of space for creativity, experimentation and fun. Positioning of your modules is of utmost importance, because upgrading of modules is done by building a specific booster module next to it. (This explains why connectors are so important. They spread all adjacency effects to all adjacent spots, including to other connectors)

Enemies:
Enemies are very varied, from laser-shooting pirate ships to aliens that attach itself to your ship and deal damage over time to huge boss ships with loads of firepower to giant aliens that have unique attacks. The levels are varied too, so it demands that players think on-the-fly.

Cargo:
While warding off enemies that may come at any angle, you still need to keep an eye out for the cargo that you're contracted to ferry. Some of these cargo deal damage to adjacent things on your ship when they get damaged, some of them jump around your ship, screwing up your ship design, some of them even deal massive amounts of damage to random things on your ship periodically. It will definitely be a hectic mess, especially as you reach the later parts of the game.

Definitely highly recommended. Just be patient and wait as the devs solve the server issues and this will be one of the best indie games of the year.
