I really wanted to like this game and I mentally gave it so many chances, but its just so unpolished and sluggish.
The storytelling is almost child-like, but with some surprise "horror" parts. It feels like the cutscenes are telling the story and you're just playing a few levels in between - The game and story somehow feels very disconnected.
Things like "Press A to skip" and its really X that you need to press, just make the game feel super unpolished and when you later hit a glitched log that won't break, its just another unpolished feature to fill you up with annoyance. Also the fact that you sometimes can fall two times your own height without damage and others barely your own height and die on the spot - Its just frustrating!
But all this is nothing compared to the controls. I've died too many #!%! times without reason because the controls either didn't respond at all or were super sluggish - Its almost like you're playing in slowmotion which is super infuriating.
Sadly this game is a prime example of pulling inspiration from other games, taking all the good parts and putting them into one game without any finish or thought. It has all the right things, but its just not using them right - Especially considering the pricetag.
The only good thing about this game are the masked creatures, whom I absolutely adore, but even those aren't worth the sluggish 1-2 hours gameplay.
