Exceptionally fun combat loops especially with friends for a reasonably priced game. Diverse set of weapons and play styles available and the developers are actively adding more content and balances on a regular basis and listen closely to its community. This is also possibly the least toxic community of players I've ever encountered in any type of shooter or competitive game.

That said the community can be overly passionate about the game and jump to review bombing it when the developers make changes they aren't perfectly happy with it despite the fact many have 50-60+ hours and clearly enjoy the game. Sadly you can't balance a game only by buffing things compromises do need to be made and things do need to be nerfed in order to maintain that balance.

If I had any critiques of the game it's that it still lacks polish in some area's and the friends/cross platform integration needs more work and that Sony not Arrowhead (the developer) still hasn't let people play Hell Divers 2 in a large number of countries after they purchased it.

Not Recommended - My opinion may change if more story content is released without any extra charges, but as it stands it fails to provide even $40 worth of content.

Barely 12 hours of story even on harder modes, most of which is pretty forgettable outside the last 3-4 hours when things shift to a more linear style. 343 leans heavily on in-game bosses that are really just big bullet spunges outside one or two encounters.

The previous setup story is quickly glossed over and or totally ignored shelved passing mention in audio logs (which are hidden throughout the open world) so the game can focus on a entirely new plot that isn't any more interesting than what came before.

Game is poorly optimized and can't run smoothly on anything but the newest hardware and even then, it still needs a good deal of improvement as character models and texture pop-in are prevalent even during cutscenes as they are rendered in-game which totally takes you out of the moment.

Some of these complaints will be addressed over time as its a brand new game engine but this is hardly what I'd expect from a AAA developer, especially after the numerous delays in release which should have allowed for them to polish the game.

Positives? - Multiplayer is free to play if you want to party up with some old buddies. Combat, sound design are solid as with any Halo game and new engine at least gives 343 solid bones to build off of.
